A 4,100-square-foot church with a nondenominational bereavement center that will serve as a “venue for interfaith dialogue” will be constructed, the authority said. The church was founded by Greek immigrants in 1916 and began services at its location on Cedar Street in 1922.:confused::confused:

Buzuxi, some of the hospitals I have worked in had bereavement centers, it is basically a place for the families to go to deal with their grief at having lost someone by speaking to a counselor or a support group.

I don't understand why they state the bereavement center would be a "venue for interfaith dialogue." How? The purpose of such a place is to obtain counseling after the death of a loved one, not talks between religions. That part sounds, to me like the tolerance police prevailing.

There was some talk awhile back about having a memorial center within the church opened to all. Probably the few artifacts that survived would be put on display, photographs of the original church and WTC and a prayer corner. Is this what they could be refering to?
I hope this interfaith venue thing is a mirepresentation.

Yes, that is probably what the Port Authority is calling non-denominational bereveament center.

I take the interfaith dialogue with a grain of salt since it is the port authroity saying it because otherwise that is just way too PC.

This is good. As for everyone worrying about the interfaith center, all this is is going to be an area for the hoards of people who want to pray, but aren't necessarily Orthodox, to have a place to do so without overflowing the actual church.

It will probably include some memorabilia of the event and make a nice place for the parish to distribute Orthodox tracts and stuff and a small lecture hall or something like that as a place for speakers from the Muslim community to get on stage and remind the world that they aren't the demonic entities depicted in certain propaganda and that they don't all loath Christians and want to butcher us all in our beds.

I don't think it means interfaith services in the sanctuary.

Interestingly, it isn't being rebuilt on the original site.

Glory to God! I saw this the other day on FB, and there's a pic of what the building will look like. :)
