• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I've had several friends who have used it and they have told me that it did nothing for them. In fact one of them said it made her worse. She did use a product called Sam-E.
You can get it anywhere(Wal-Mart etc.) and it work really good for her! Hopes this helps a little.

St. John's Wort helped me for about a year... then the amount I needed to use to help just made me sick. Like any prescribed anti-depressant if it's going to help it might take a few weeks before it helps. Herbs can interact with other medications, herbs, and foods and your doctor and pharmacist should be aware you are using it.

From what I last heard - it is not really all that safe and may actually do more harm than good. Also, self-treatment of any illness without the supervision of a physician can be dangerous. If at all possible I would see a professional to assess your condition.

God Bless.

Well this is actually true of pretty much every medication out there. The main problem with OTC supplements and remedies is that people think just because it's on a shelf in the supermarket it's safe and it doesn't count as "medication"

Like you said seeing a professional is the way to go.

I believe someone else has already commented about the potency and manufacturer of the product.

I would like to also add that for those whom it has worked to beware - anti-depressants are divided into drug classes. The way this herb works is similar to a MOAI - which requires very strict dietary/medicinal restrictions. A MOAI - blocks serotonin from being absorbed - it also blocks tyramine - several foods such as aged cheese, processed meats... plus OTC medications and Rx meds can cause an extreme increase in blood pressure which could lead to a stroke.

Never take any herbs - without professional advice and/or while taking other prescription a/o OTC medications.

That's good to know - echanachea (or however it's spelled :) ) makes my allergy symptoms worse instead of better.

I'm guessing that those of us with seasonal allergies have more trouble with "all-natural" medications and herbs than the average Joe!!

Thanks for all the input, everyone!!
