The Falling Asleep of St. John the Evangelist and Theologian
Reading from the Synaxarion:
This Apostle was from Bethsaida of Galilee, and was the son of
Zebedee and Salome, and the brother of James the elder. First a
fisherman by trade, he became an Apostle and the beloved Disciple of
Christ. Only he of all the Disciples followed Him even to the Cross, and
was entrusted with the care of our Saviour's Mother, as it were
another son to her, and a brother of Christ the Teacher. After this, he
preached throughout Asia Minor, especially in Ephesus. When the second
persecution against the Christians began in the year 96 during the reign of
Domitian, he was taken in bonds to Rome, and there was cast into a vat
filled to the brim with boiling oil. Coming forth therefrom unharmed,
he was exiled to the island of Patmos, where he wrote the Book of
Revelation. Returning again to Ephesus after the death of the tyrant, he
wrote his Gospel (after the other Evangelists had already written
theirs) and his three Catholic Epistles. In all, he lived ninety-five
years and fell asleep in the Lord during the reign of Trajan in the
year 100. He was called Theologian because he loftily expounded in
his Gospel the theology of the inexpressible and eternal birth of the
Son and Word of God the Father. It is for this cause that an eagle-a
symbol of the Holy Spirit, as Saint Irenaeus says-is depicted in his
icon, for this was one of the four symbolic living creatures that the
Prophet Ezekiel saw (Ezek. 1:10).

"In the beginning was the Logos, and the Logos was with God, and the Logos was God. This One was in the beginning with God. All things came into being through Him, and without Him not even one thing came into being that hath come to be. In Him was life, and the Life was the light of men. And the light shineth in the darkness, and the darkness overcame it not.
There came to be a man who was sent forth from God, whose name was John. This same came for a witness, in order that he might bear witness concerning the Light, that all might bellieve through Him. He was not that One, the Light, but was sent that he might bear witness concerning the Light. That was the true Light, which giveth light to every man coming into the world. He was in the world, and the world came into being through Him, and the world knew Him not. He came to His own, and His own received Him not. But as many as received Him, to them He gave power to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: who were begotten not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. And the Logos became flesh and tabernacled among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only-begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth. John beareth witness concerning Him, and hath cried out, saying, "This One was He of Whom I said, "The One Who cometh after me hath come to be before me, for He was before me." And of His fullness we all received, and grace for grace; for the Law was given through Moses, but the grace and truth came to be by Jesus Christ. No one hath seen God at any time. The only-begotten Son, Who is in the bosom of the Father, the One declareth Him.

Greetings. Yes that greek word "patmos" is interesting. I did a study on "John" being there.
Notice "John" is a Jew, probably of the Priesthood and note that his back is toward Jesus. He would symbolically be facing the OC Table of Showbread

And when he "TURNS", behold! He sees the NC True Showbread, our Lord JESUS. I have a pretty good study on this.

Reve 1: 10 I was in the Spirit on the Lord's Day, and I heard behind me a loud Voice, as of a Trumpet.......
Reve 1:12 And I turned/epestreya <1994> (5656) to be seeing the Voice which-any spoke with me, and upon-turning/epistreyaV <1994> (5660) I saw seven lampstands, golden 13 and in the midst of the seven lampstands [One] like the Son of a Man, clothed with a garment down to the feet and girded about the chest with a golden band.
