  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I watched a movie over two nights (finished last night) about a guy named John Bosco. I didn't know anything about him, but in my Ignatius Press catalogs the movie description sounded interesting. In the mid 1800/s this priest chose to minister to the boys running wild in the streets instead of following a more accepted path in the Church. His ministry was successful though a battle every step of the way. Towards the end then it shows him working at forming a "congregation" called the Salesians. That was a word I'd seen around some of the Catholic magazines but never followed up~didn't know it St Bosco that started it.

Then there was the boy in the story (Dominic Savio) that died young~at the end of the movie it said he was sainted. While Catholics watching would have probably recognized the boy as soon as he'd introduced himself to St Bosco, he was simply a unique character in the story that died young and had an effect upon the boys at the home.

Anyhow, just an interesting movie about a man devoted to God and others over himself and what others thought he should do...
