I really don't feel like driving down there at all, just the drive, it's good when you get there... but we also have Toby Keith tickets for Sunday night so it should be good. Plus Sunday morning we're going to the OCA church there for the first time...

Morning:wave: And drive carefully. Enjoy the concert.

My Grandfather was a teenager in that war. lol. He was always telling us stories about how they caught the "Tommies", stripped them, and sent them ao their way, as they had no prison camps. BTW, the British had the first POW camps of any war here, filled with women and children!!!

Hi John!

My wife's uncle was a piano tuner and we seem to have inherited all his stuff. If you were willing to pay shipping I've got a tuning wrench and a ton of various hammers, felts, ivories and strings.

That would be awesome! I would definitely take you up on that. If you're serious, PM me.

There was also a piece of electrical equipment for tuning pianos (kind of like a small oscilloscope)

I was a kid during the twilight years of the oscilloscope-type tuners. I remember being in 4th grade and almost crying because the tuner was so complicated. Thankfully, technology marches on, and I've got several tuners of various quality that you don't have to be an electrical engineer to read.

which you could have used, but silly me fried it by plugging it in to test it, not realising that it was built for the U.S. market (110V) and not the European (220V).

I kept my electronic keyboard at my parents' for a few years, and when I asked for it back, they sent it with an adapter I didn't recognize. Here's the conversation:

Me: Mom, are you sure this is the right adapter? It doesn't say Yamaha on it.
Mom: Yep, that's the right one.
Me: You're sure? Cause if you lost mine, I won't be mad, but I need to be sure before I plug it in. Even the right voltage adapter may be the wrong
polarity.
Mom: No, I'm sure. Go ahead and try it if you don't believe me.
*ufonium plugs the adapter into the keyboard, and immediately smoke comes out of the back*

I've tuned our piano but unfortunately the peg board needs to be replaced. The tuning pegs no longer have a tight enough fit and the piano is back out of tune in a couple of days.

Unfortunately, as you probably know, the pin block is likely more expensive to replace than the piano is worth. Has anyone tried replacing your pins with bigger ones? That can be pretty expensive too, but not as bad as replacing the block. Of course, you can chemically "dope" the pins too, but most piano tuners won't do that, and it is a temporary solution.

Man, I could BS about instruments all day. :D
