  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I love my Nikon D80 dSLR. I also love the 17-35 and 28-300 Tamron lenses that I have for it.

I just got a refurbished Canon Rebel XSi. It's an entry level dSLR. But if you want a Point and Shoot and don't really care about shooting manual and changing lenses, I would recommend a Canon Powershot. Those get very, very good reviews and would save you from wasting money on features that you wouldn't use.

A friend of mine has a powershot and loves it. If you are not wanting to control exposure, apperature, etc. and just want a point and shoot then a dSLR is a waste of time.

So we're experimenting tonight with temperature to see if that will help Allie sleep better. Gonna cool the house a little more than we have been...because she was sleeping all night there for a while when it was winter and cooler. I mean, just two to three hours longer and we'll be good. But this 3 and 4am stuff is killling me.

The cherry tree in my side yard is so tall that the birds eat the cherries on the top of the tree and I get all that I can pick from the bottom half. However, that is more of a pie cherry tree. This cherry tree is black sweet cherries, the kind you just keep in a bowl and nibble on all day long.

I just picked up the new Powershot SX210 IS. Definitely get a point and shoot with internal stabilizer (IS for the Canons). Nowadays they are so light that any little shake will fuzz up your picture. I love this one, it does a great job! Has a super zoom and good features.

Kreikkalainen - looks like you won't have issues with your flight unless the ash situation changes again.
I decided to stay here in the US for now. SAS were thrilled with getting another seat and since they are moving my ticket for free, no big deal. Helsinki is still closed today and you never know. SAS will only get me to Oslo, Copenhagen or Stockholm and with boats and everything being sold out it would be too much of a hassle to get stuck somewhere. Better to be stuck at home than somewhere else...

Not sweating at all..but she kicks her blackets away. She likes to sleep on top of the blanket.

Our experiment was a partial success. She slept until 5am. Still too early though. My aim is 6am or 6:30.
