Hey, people of TAW! Do me a favor: next time I shave my mustache; shoot me.

Last Wednesday I shaved off my mustache because it had some small patches of peach fuzz. Plus I had to work the next day, hadn't shaved in a week and they don't like the full beard so that was my excuse .

Seriously, all I have on my face is goatee and some stubble. Trust me, without the mustache I look completely stupid. I don't think I've ever come so close to kicking myself in the face as right after the mustache was gone.

Today after Divine Liturgy, I had my dad, another Reader, a priest and his whole family (priest, matushka and three kids) giving me little more than pure hell about it.

"I know why you look different, you don't have your mustache!"
"Yeah, he does look different"
"You looked better with it"
"Why?"
"What were you thinking? You shouldn't do that again"
"Hey, you're right, he did look better with it"
"Now he's going to look that way until it grows back"

The line from Animal House "Thank you sir; may I have another?" came to mind.

I have all my textbooks now. I made the mistake of buying them all at once...and then had to walk abut 1.5 km with them...BAD BAD BAD. That walk is hard enough with a normal bag! Home now, and safe, but my legs are killing me not to mention my shoulders.

You don't want to know what that bag of books cost me. Ugh.

Uni starts on Monday. No I'm not living on campus - most people don't here. Its VERY expensive and people only do if they absolutely must, even people from interstate or out of town usually rent a house with friends or random other people, but it's all organised independent of the school. I catch the train and it takes about half an hour, with the 1.5k walk (but through gardens and it's quite nice) included. Besides, I have my dad (a professor there) and maria (andrew's sister, doing her masters) 's offices to sleep in if I need to.

Funny how that's a perfectly normal thing for me to list as a necessity for college - somewhere to sleep during the day.

On the 8th of may. That's a friday, but we got the blessing of a metropolitan and of an archbishop, so that should do (the 8th of may is a bank holiday in France, that's why we chose it).

Forgive me for asking, but when do your semesters run? In the States, we start in Sept and end in Dec, and then begin in Jan and end in May.

March seems a bit strange to be beginning classes to me.

Probably the quarter system. Winter quarter is ending on March 18 and Spring quarter begins about a week or two later.

Southern hemisphere. So, it's late summer here. We have our long break in summer, just like you do, so first semester begins in early March (first day of lent this year, incidentally!) and ends in late June. Second semester begins in July and ends in October or November. We have a two week break in the middle of each semester - Holy Week is the first week of the "Easter Holidays" (fall break) this year which is very helpful since I wouldn't be attending classes then even if they were running!
