How's the post-Nativity cholesterol festival going for you all? Have there been any fatalities? :p

The other day I was invited to my cousin "for a tea". When I reached her place, I realised the tea wasn't very liquid and there were gyros, tzatziki, onion & tomato in it :p.

Countering it with a bumpercrop of fantastic grapefruit, if my stomach didn't scream bloody murder if I eat more than 2 in a day I'd live off of them... that and avocados. :p:D

I am in a spectacularly good mood. Um... χάρικα...does that make grammatical sense outside a proper sentence or not? My translations from greek to english aren't bad but the other way around is a nightmare.

Happyyyyyyyyy.... :)

Yes, in fact it's used as a farewell. People will say χάρικα, in the same way we would say "It was a pleasure to meet you"

You know what happened to him, right?

I don't, myself. I came across this movie last night, and by the time I got to this scene in the restaurant, I had to find something else to watch. I prefer Monty Python's earlier work. Blech!

Χάρικα is such a pretty word, but like most greek it seems to depend on context. CONFUSING! I also have a bunch of people trying to get me to use Cypriot slang.
It's not slang, it's dialect ;) and in some cases more ancient

Χάρηκα, past tense of χαίρομαι
1. (untransitive) I 'm joyfull, happy, (very) pleased or enthusiastic.
2. (transitive) i enjoy (something or someone)
I hope this makes sense to you.;)

Greg: Whatever it is, it's incredibly confusing for the poor Australiki who is trying desperately to learn to understand people let alone talk back... my friend Andrew's family is Cypriot and they are unintelligible periodically.

Handmaiden: :( *passes chicken noodle soup and chocolate*

Constantine: thanks! The people who taught it to me said it in the context of being extremely happy. Spinning around in circles dizzily type happy.

Thank you Kyriaki. I want to go to sleep but I can't breathe -- my nose is too stuffy!!!

I've been drinking fluids and popping decongestants like they're going out of style and IT'S NOT HELPING!!!

On another note, I'm feeling quite pan-Orthodox, as I had Ukrainian stuffed cabbage while wearing my Greek festival T-shirt today! :D

hot cocoa was much appreciated - thanks :)

Have just got back in having been thawed enough by said cocoa , to go and do a large shopping - won't get any done tomorrow and of course shops are shut on Thursday so needed to stock up .

Have now had hot soup , and am warming up again . That's me now in for the rest of the day
