  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I saw "Mama Mia" when it first came out. Very good movie :D
I saw it too... I laughed so hard... I had to take my daughter as my DH was away for work.... We both enjoyed though ABBA is my fav. group ....Everyone from Europe grew up to listen to them no matter the age...;)

Meryl was great but I would have loved to have Jack nickolson with her than the other guy.... I am not fond of him at all...He is way too cold...brrrr.....for that role....

I really enjoyed the movie but am I the only one who got thoroughly confused by the western wedding in a Greek church (complete with icons) and the old greek men crossing themselves Catholic style?

Weeeeird. But a lot of fun!

Some islands like Syros we have catholic churches and quite some catholic population... But... even Catholics would object to a "last minute" wedding ...loll... I guess it is just a movie...

The greek that was spoken was ...hillarius...those peasant ladies with they scarfs dancing around was priceless...hahahaha....
I know Meryl enjoyed herself with that movie....I saw the interview.

She is one of those married to her husband over 30 years...:) Extraordinary really for living in Hollywood :)

St Kosmas Aitolos today. Or Pyhä Kosmas Aitolialainen as the priest said up here :).

It's been said that if it wasn't for this man, what is now the west of Greece would have been muslim, while the 20% of Albanians that are Orthodox Christians would rather have been a 0%.

Yawn! I'm back from our two weeks in Finland. We had a good trip and now we're trying to get back to normal schedule. So far so good! Hubs grew a nice fat beard in the 17 days he had off... he shaved it off today so it doesn't take all morning tomorrow before he heads to work.
Anyhow, I'm zonked so I'm going to chill and then head to bed early. Just swinging by to say Hi!

It covers all typical misuses of antennas, doesn't it. ^_^

LOL that's gold. Saving to repeat to family members when they get home.

Hi everyone. It is just on the edge of spring here - we have the awesome thing where the Liturgical new year and the first day of Spring are the same day! Poetic :)

There are flowers blooming and it is slowly getting warmer. I approve, I hate the cold!

I've nearly forgotten what it's like to live in the Southern Hemisphere! It was funny, a couple of years ago during Holy Week someone using one of the service books we have stashed away in the choir cupboard (at the Russian Church in Athens) noticed that there was a note saying "Pascha - Autumn 1976" and everyone amazed, wondered how on earth Pascha had fallen during autumn that year. I had to explain to them that Pascha is in Autumn every year....in the Southern hemisphere! It makes the hymns about "lenten spring" seem quite out of place!:p

Yep, lenten spring makes my brain hurt.

We had a really hot beginning to lent this year, which was quite nice actually - we were eating salad for dinner every night anyway so we just kept up the tradition. 40*C days...ugh...I wore knee length skirts and short sleeved blouses to the lenten services for the first month or so. By the time we got to holy week though it was suitably freezing cold which was nice...wearing black during that hot weather would have been murder.

Mechanic vs. A Cardiologist

A mechanic was removing a cylinder head from the motor of a Harley
motorcycle when he spotted a well known cardiologist in his shop........

The cardiologist was there waiting for the service manager to come take
a look at his bike when the mechanic shouted across the garage, 'Hey Doc,
want to take a look at this?'

The cardiologist, a bit surprised, walked over to where the mechanic was
working on the motorcycle.

The mechanic straightened up, wiped his hands on a rag and asked, 'So
Doc, look at this engine. I open its heart, take the valves out, repair any
damage, and then put them back in, and when I finish, it works just like
new. So how come I make $39,675 a year and you get the really big bucks
($1,695,759) when you and I are doing basically the same work?'

The cardiologist paused, smiled and leaned over, then whispered to the
mechanic...

'Try doing it with the engine running'
