Very interesting weather we're having, especially down in the South (U.S.).
I kid when I say we're enjoying a taste of all four seasons every week, but
it really feels that way.

Here we are in January of '06, and the last few days topped off just below
the 70 degree mark. Granted, it's a little bit cooler since yesterday
morning, for the relief of all blanket wrapped, winter weather fans.

I haven't had the opportunity to go back and look at the historical stats
or anything, but I am quite curious about the effects we could feel this
Spring. Just because the temperature has been above the average, and shift-
ing on a constant basis, I start questioning whether we will have more
severe storms and tornadoes than usual.

Anyone else have a take on this? Do you think the seasonal changes, and
patterns spell out indications of a stormy Spring? Just curious...

Back to work,

This is not normal at all. I'm up in Pennsylvania where it was 60 degrees out and Flys were out and I seen a lady bug as well.

:( Last night a storm blew over raining when it should have been snow.

They said cold weather was coming back last week and it never did. Hmmm

Yeah it looks like a stormy summer. Looks like winter is going to be stormy as well if it doesn't cool down. It's way too warm for this time of year. It's supposed to be snowy. I've been seeing mosquitoes of all things here lately. :(

:D That's blood-suckin' crazy!!!
I've been checking the web for this year's Storm Spotter schedule, but so far we do not have one set up. I'm guessing it will probably be released in February. I'm hoping to take the class (which was recently merged into one class instead of a Basic and Advanced segment) for personal interest, as well as a credit for my job as my company's Disaster Alert Monitor.

I'm in California, and it just seems like we are destined to have an early spring. My spring bulbs are already blooming, and the buds of the roses are blooming, and they never fell off. We ended up pruning the roses as usual in Jan., but they would have continued blooming throughout winter. We have had quite a lot of rain this season. More due to arrive too...

Warmer weather just may bring in more bad storms and destruction, but I sure hope not. It is one more thing to pray about.:crosseo:

Our schedules just got posted, Edgewood, IA has the first class next week, but my local one isn't until March 30th.

It looks like they are alternating between basic and advanced topics. Last year it was 25% basic, and 75% advanced, and this year the reverse. I think that makes some sense, as one is always looking for new folks, so you don't want to blow them away with complexity, but you also need to cater to those who have been doing this for years. I was first certified in 96, but it seems I learn something new every year, no matter whether its the basic or advanced topics.

kind of late but on March 11 or 12, 2006 here in Southwest Missouri we had 2 or 3 tornados come through. No one was injured around where I live, but it was fairly unusual for us.
storms have been getting more dangerous and powerful over the years.
