  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Just wondering, do any of you sponser children from other countries?

We have 3 through World Vision:

A girl (9) from China; a boy (7) from the Phillipines; and a girl (2) from Guatemala.

This is in addition to supporting some local charities (kind of like sponsoring anonymous children)

As well as helping them achieve a better standard of living, we also feel like they are part of our extended family.

Anyone else out there?

This might sound a bit strange, but the little girl I sponsor through Compassion (She's eight now) was a Valentine's Day gift from Hubby over a year ago. Or rather, the sponsorship was the gift. The Compassion card was put inside a "It's a girl" new baby congrats card with a note about how the sponsorship would comfort me as I waited to go TTC and have our own child. I like to get her drawings and write to her. And send her stickers:thumbsup:

My husband and I sponsor children through Compassion International for over 2 yrs now. They are really great about making sure the children are cared for if we for some reason cannot afford to.

We write to them, send them photos of us, stickers and construction paper. They use those items to draw us pictures. They bless back to us the gifts we sent them. Since we don't have children of our own yet, I have my 4yr old nephew draw pictures for me to send it to our kids explaining who drew them :)

they love it. they express they pray for us all the time and describe their schooling. they also describe what they buy with the funds we provide every month for them. its very encouraging and joyful for me.
