  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Spoiling the surprise

So my wife loves to use Amazon Prime to buy Christmas gifts/etc.

Thing is - it's tied to my account - and my cel phone.

So every time she buys something and it ships, I get a text notification appraising me what has been shipped, and when it will arrive.

I do my best not to look, but I've inadvertently seen one or two things so far. lol

This is timely. Our daughter just sent me a text letting me know she used my Etsy account to order something for her dad (my husband). I don't know why she didn't create her own Etsy account....and now I want to order something for HER from Etsy. At least all the notifications go to me.

The thing is - each time I receive one I think "I'm sure that's the last one - so not worth doing it" (because I'm not 100% sure where the notification setting is in Amazon and I'm lazy). But then lo and behold - here comes another! haha

I'll do it now.

I'm the one with the prime account, and my husband and inlaws all use it as well. So I get all the notifications. The thing I asked my ILs to get me (they always ask for a list for each one of us) is arriving Tuesday. My husband is a little sneakier.

The other catch is my kids know how to check orders on my amazon app, so I have to be careful to not let them use my phone if I don't want them to see what I've ordered. I'm sure there's a way to block that by requiring the password to enter the app - they thankfully don't know the amazon password. But honestly, when they do use my phone, I've got them trained to put things on a wish list, not outright purchase, so it's kind of helpful that they have access. Made shopping for them easy this year.
