  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What are the typical SPL's guys run today. Years ago, I liked the stage volume to stay under 100, and the FOH around 103-108 at the console. Of course what I liked, and what usually happened were two different things. The FOH normally stayed below 112, but sometimes stage volume might shoot up to over 118, and in some smaller venues without the PA, we might hit over 122 if we got a reallly loud guitar guy. Needless to say, I wore earplugs most of the time.

Today, I can't hear all that great. Rather than music though, it was loud airplane engines that did me in. Otoh, with the profliferation of MP3 players and earbuds, the younger generation may be in a whole lot more hurt than I am when it comes to hearing loss.

Any thoughts
