  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I found this blog post on the web. Here's the summary:
Congestion. It happens in life, but have you ever thought about it occurring in your faith? They say be filed with joy, but how can I be if I’ve caught a faith cold? Here, I leave you four tips on how to begin healing.

So, what do you think? Do you think it's accurate or helpful?

Because I live by faith in God's promises in His Word, I don't have any consciousness of my spiritual state. In fact, I refuse to have a spiritual state because that tends to be New Age thinking for me. New Age thinking has to do with self improvement and looking at our spiritual health. There is no mention of "spiritual" in the sense of some attribute that is part of our nature or consciousness. The New Testament view of "spiritual" is the indwelling of the Holy Spirit and how we are open to Him and allow Him to work sanctification in our lives. So I do not see myself as a "spiritual" person at all. Paul said that there was no good thing in him, and I am the same way. Anything Christlike in me is because of the new heart the Holy Spirit has put in me, enabling the fruit of the Spirit to develop in me throughout my life.

The article reveals the perspective of someone on the beginning of a journey, but not about someone who is near the end. It's fine for sharing thoughts and experiences, and connecting with people, but not necessarily a part of a direct path to knowing the Lord better.

I think "spiritual" is a reference to things that we believe transcend our physical existence—for Christians it mostly a reference to things connected to God or the invisible realm. So I am very spiritual, but I don't think of it that way. I think of it as just normal living by the truth in Christ rather than with "truth" that is from human wisdom.
