Hmmmm, interesting question. My guess would be it's one of two things - either the person thinks they have a closer relationship to God than most (a better understanding perhaps). Or they have this New Age thing going on where you can make your self spiritual. Or, I'm full of baloney and have no idea what I'm talking about. :)

Okay, first off we are talking about a relative of mine. Second off, he has changed his religion on FB from Christian to Spiritual. I am definitely going with the new age thingy here. Especially when you factor in a few FB groups he has joined recently (they show up on my newsfeed). It does concern me.

Jesus is an embarrassment when we want to impress the world...saying spiritual is much cooler than saying Christian to the world. They applaud "spiritual" but look down on "Christian". Perhaps that is one of the reasons he switched? Keep being a shining light.

Very tough situation when you factor in that my family has this thing against the LCMS. You know, the one that is exclusive and thinks they are better than any others. Never been able to get anywhere with family members who have this problem with the LCMS.

Do keep this in your prayers.

Try being WELS.....

I will say a prayer for this person.

Too true.

People often forget "the path is narrow".

I once found a bumpersticker that answered the coexist one, but I can't find them anymore. It was something like "truly exist"...does anyone remember that?

Was that something that RedNeck created? Seems like it was someone from here who put it on their facebook page. Facebook is down so I can't go looking right now.

it might've been...but it was actually available for purchase at the time. Ah-hah! I just found the link for it. I remember I sent it to my hubby.

Here's the graphic:

If any of you want the link for the products, PM me.

Well, I got up the courage to ask him what it means. This was the reply:

"A positive approach to life, seeking to accept the good in all people and events. I have no affiliation to any particular creed, no set dogma, and no required ritual. I do not believe in past sins but on the potential good in all, and in an inclusive faith that welcomes diversity of belief, accepting of the beliefs of others."

I replied with a that is sad to me.

Crud :(

The world has gotten to him. I'm okay, you're okay, we're all okay. No need for a Savior, huh?

Well, he is definitely believes that all ways are good and who is man to put limits on God. He wants me to accept his belief. I can not do that. Told him that he has every right to believe what he wants, but I can not and will not accept it. Also asked what limits are put on God.

BTW, this is my younger brother. We were raised Presbyterian. Makes me wonder of the double predestination factors in here. Am trying to keep a dialog going, but he keeps trying to shut it down.

Spiritual to me means they want to bypass Jesus and pretend they know some answers of which they really don't. It is too New Agey for my taste.

Yep, for the most part they believe in work righteousness and don't believe that Jesus did it all :sigh:

I posted before I read your reply. So he is saying that whatever faith one chooses is good, such as Muslim, Budhist etc?
