  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I really loved Spirited Away and Kiki's Delivery Service, they were really cute, but still had a deeper meaning to them. I'm really interested in seeing Princess Mononoke. My husband isn't really into anime so I have to watch them by myself ={ but that's ok! Maybe once I move my sister will come over and watch them with me (Sorry I'm moving back to my hometown in a week and a half!)

LOL :D Some people read too much into things. :sigh:

Do you think it is looking TOO much into things? Doesn’t the Bible say to always keep your guard up? Just curious. I watched it, I love all his films, seen them all. But this one seemed to leave me with a funny spiritual feeling afterwards. I mean, it is about the Spirit world, and it isn’t exactly uplifting the Christian side of the Spirit world. If I were a kid and saw this I think it would have creeped me out. But I am also wise enough to know it is a fantasy and not to be taken too literally. Just keeping my mind open to ALL views.

It's based on Japanese mythology, so of course it's not going to be based on a Christian spirit world.

Well, ya, I know that. Doesn’t mean it is a Good Spirit world just because it isn’t Christian… or then again, doesn’t that make it a bad on because it isn’t Christian??? I wonder… :holy: :D

Well...

I think on the one hand, some people take things too 'literally' when it's supposed to be fantasy (though there is such a thing as bad fantasy?), and on the other hand some people seem to 'tolerate' an awful lot... It depends on your own disposition to the content I suppose - I agree it's wise to discern what you view, though...

I liked the movie, and I thought the main character was a hero in her own way. :) It did get really wierd/bizzare in some parts, though...:tutu:

Anyone here like Panda and the Magic Serpent? That is also based off mythology (though Chinese I think) - my Dad LOVES that movie... I find it had to follow, but I like it too :p
