The Spirit of Python #1

the unbelief that puts men and women in bondage

These and more teaches can be found on the Be Healed! Network!

In order to serve the Lord in the ministry, you must be free from bondage. Some of the biggest forms of bondage are the Spirit of Intimidation (fear), the Spirit of Depression (defeat), and the Spirit of Python (doubt). In this teaching I'm going to talk about some of the ways that the Spirit of Python comes to constrict upon those, particularly those who have a great zeal to please God, and how the effects can be disastrous.
In the first part of this teaching I will talk about what the Spirit of Python is, and some basics of how it operates. Later in the teaching I will go deeper and deeper and talk about some more advanced entanglements and ways that the Spirit of Python can really get into a person's way of thinking, and how to descern the difference between the voice of Python and the voice of God. At the end of the teaching I will talk about how to break the power of the Spirit of Python off your life, and then pray a prayer with you for freedom.

The Spirit of Python brings doubt:
"And he that doubteth is ****** if he eat, because he eateth not of faith: for whatsoever is not of faith is sin." - Paul in Romans 14

I received a revelation concerning a type of doubt, and a type of faith, which is in the bible, but which is hardly ever talked about anymore. This doubt and faith is vital to understanding how the Spirit of Python works to restrict your ability to move and breathe, and limit how well you can serve the Lord. The Spirit of Python brings in this form of doubt, which leads to your complete bondage. The Faith that I am about to describe is found throughout the bible, and it is the only way to overcome the Spirit of Python. This type of Faith has three different aspects, which must be understood in order to break yourself free of bondage and to have confidence to serve the Lord without guilt.

This type of Faith, described by Paul in Romans 14:
1. It knows that it is not under the law, but that it has liberty in Christ Jesus
2. It knows that it is accepted and loved by God through Christ Jesus without laws
3. It knows that it is forgiven, guiltless, unblamable and unreprovable before God in Christ Jesus

When the scripture talks about "without Faith it is impossible to please God." It uses the same word that Paul uses and describes in this important chapter. To say it frankly, you are very limited if you don't have this type of Faith.

The reason I call this a "type of faith" is because there are other types of faith which are also good to have. Faith for miracles is a completely different type of Faith. Faith in the existence and lordship of God is another. Faith for answers to prayer is another. Most people know and have heard of these types of Faith, but very few people have heard of the kind of Faith that really sets you free.

The scripture describes this type of faith in great detail in the 14th Chapter of the book of Romans, and Paul gives some very sound advice concerning the relationship between people who have this kind of faith, and people who don't.

This type of Doubt, described by Paul in Romans 14:
1. It believes that it is under laws, rules, and unnecessary regulations.
2. It has little confidence in God's acceptance of them outside of these laws, and little confidence in God's love apart from these rules and regulations.
3. It feels sinful, guilty, blamed of faults and reproved before God and even by God.

If you look up the word "doubt" in this chapter you see also it means to hesitate. In other words, you have an uncertainty concerning laws. You may not actually believe that you are under laws, but you may feel hesitant about breaking them. For example, you may hesitate to touch, taste, feel, do, see, etc. If the thing is not forbidden in the scripture, and yet you're hesitation comes because you are afraid of displeasing God - afraid of sin - then you have doubt concerning God's grace, and you are "weak in the faith" as Paul said in the first verse of this chapter. This is when the Spirit of Python can come and begin to get a foothold in your heart, which we will discuss in more detail in a moment.

This doubt concerning the liberty and grace that we have in Christ Jesus leads to bondage and the Spirit of Python gets a place in your heart. If you are a minister, and you have this form of doubt, you're going to feel like you are in a box, unable to serve the Lord the way you see others who succeed. If you have this form of doubt naturally you will put yourself under laws and restrictions that are not found in the bible. These restrictions are almost always the result of a guilty conscience, and they limit how much God is able to you, because God will not force his grace and liberty upon anyone. Without grace and liberty, it's very hard to serve the Lord in the ministry.

When the Spirit of Python shows up, he accuses and puts rules upon you. These rules and accusations manifest themselves in the conscience. The Spirit of Python is one of the stronger principalities / demons that can speak directly into your conscience. What so very few understand is the fact that the conscience is not infallible. It is very possible that your own conscience can lie and deceive you when the Spirit of Python is putting lies into your ear, and you mistake the voice of the devil accusing you for the voice of God. Nowhere in the scripture did it ever say that your conscience was a source for infallible truth. The bible says that the word is truth; nowhere did it say that the conscience of a man is truth.

The Spirit of Python - A Lying Conscience:
Many people are taught that if your conscience makes you guilty, then God is angry with you, or you've done something to offend God. I've seen dear saints who had their heads hanging so low, feeling as though they had disobeyed or sinned against God-their conscience making them feel guilty and unaccepted in God's sight. They go from one guilt-trip to another, always feeling as though God was constantly accusing and rebuking them day and night for sins that are not even listed in the bible. These people's problem is none other than a lack of faith in who they are in Christ Jesus, the kind of faith that without which it is impossible to please God.

…examples…

I knew a man who got saved, and felt as though his computer in his bedroom was offending God. So he promptly removed the computer, only to remember that his bible-programs were on the computer, which he needed in order to study the bible. So with great reluctance he brought his computer back into his room, only now he felt he had disobeyed God. So the guilt continues until he finally removes the computer again, only to bring it back. Ten times he removed his computer from his room, and ten times he brought it back. One day, with great difficulty, he determined in his heart that it was not God who was accusing him and making him guilty, and that his own conscience had been lying to him in that area. It was a battle. He felt for a time an uneasiness that he was searing his conscience with a hot iron, and resisting the correction of the Holy Ghost. He persisted, determined that the nonsense and unreasonable guilt was not from God. So the guilt went away, and never returned.

Many times when the Spirit of Python shows up it places a guilt upon you which is easily described in one word: "nonsense". The guilt is unreasonable, and you'll feel obligated to obey it through fear of disobedience. But we will talk about the fear of disobedience later, and I'll give you some scriptures that talk more about it.

Another saint of God I know had a similar trouble. He believed that God hated all the things of the flesh, and that anything other than the basic essentials to survive, was sin. This bondage made him continuously guilty. He had difficulty sleeping in a bed, because his own conscience told him that the bed was "the lust of the flesh". He did his best to try to obey his conscience, wanting only to please God. One day, he woke up late at night feeling thirsty. So he went to get a drink and poured himself a glass of milk. As he lifted the glass to his lips to take a drink he was struck with guilt, and he heard a small voice inside of him say, "your sinning". So he poured out the glass of milk in the sink and decided to just drink water instead, even though he was not on a fast. He took the glass, filled it with ice, and then put water into the glass. As he lifted the glass to his lips to take a drink, again he was struck by guilt, because he had put ice-cubes in the glass, which was not essential for survival. He lowered the glass and stood there questioning what he was feeling. "Is this the God of grace and love? Would God accuse me over ice-cubes?" It was because of this unreasonable level of bondage and guilt that he determined from that day on that his own conscience had been deceiving him, and that if the guilt over the ice-cubes had been from the devil, what about the rest of the guilt he had been feeling? So he determined from that day forth that the only way to know if the conscience was right or wrong was to judge it by the scripture. He determined that as long as he had the fruit of the spirit, and did all things in love, as he would have others do unto him, then he was not under the law, as Paul said.
