Spelling,anyone?

Is anyone just fascinated by spelling?I am.I wanna make the bee this year but I'm not sure.........Anyone wanna help?

Actually, I love words, love to write and spelling is wicked awesome. Technically speaking, playing and experimenting with new and more vulnerable, open words is the bomb! Lately however, spelling seems to slip. I look at a simple word, and it JUST DOESN'T LOOK RIGHT!!!!

i think the same thing, carrymeaway. my suitemate and i were trying to spell fiery last night and we stared at the word for about 10 minutes before erasing it and coming up with a new word. incorrect spelling is a big pet peeve of mine.

I refuse to use spell check (short of for college work.... ) because I KNOW I'll become dependant on it and stop spelling altogether.

In my journal writing, I'm picky about a word being spelled write. If I'm not sure if a word is spelled write, I get a dicitonary

I will spend hours, if not days, trying to get the right word. And there are days when I couldn't spell "the" correctly.
I recently found--ie someone told me about-- an etymology site. I could get lost for hours.

Days huh??? Well, maybe you would know the word I've been trying to find. It's similar to the word Vandalism... but it's not quite. It's been driving myself and my co-workers nuts!

Similar in meaning. So many people hav e thrown words out like conspire and conviction... I'm looking for a word that more or less means destruction rather than reason for.

well, if not spellcheck, editing and proofreading I can't stop and make sure I kn ow how to spell every word before putting it on paper. If I don't know how to spell the word I'll make a note and check it in the second draft

I'm obsesd w/haveing the corect speling of sumthing.

If I see something is spelled wrong, I'll have to change it. Words like "stregnth" that I can never seem to get right really bug me.

Nothing else has come to mind, but it seems there should be something...

For myself, I use spell check whenever possible, but I don't trust it completely. The wrong word can be spelled right, but it's still the wrong word. I tend to get difficult words right and miss the really easy ones. (It took me forever to spell freind right.)
