i just had a few questions that i need clarification on. I was born again about a year ago and have been praying and reading my bible ect. But i have not yet experienced speaking in tounges. Does this mean i am not doing something right or is God not close to me? I understand that you have to receive the Holy Spirit first but what does this entail? Do i have to water babtised? I was babtised as a child so do i need to do it again? What am i missing?

Not at all! There are various gifts of the Holy Spirit and we're not meant to have all of them. Not everyone has the gift of tongues. For example, my dad and his friend went to a Charismatic convention my dad's friend referred to as "the tongue talker's convention". It was a week long seminar in which men were encouraged to pray for the gift of tongues. Well, my dad's friend fell out in the Spirit and began speaking in tongues on the second day. My dad never did. It doesn't mean my dad is less in tune with the Holy Spirit than his friend. No, it simply means he wasn't given the gift.

It's hard to tell from your brief remarks what the problem is.So here are some general remarks on the topic..The Bible contains no specific requirements as to what type of water baptism ceremony should be performed. Therefore infant baptism which is widely practiced, meets the Bible requirement for water baptism.

Many churches tell their members that they are "born again" after they just pray a brief sinners prayer. However the term in the Bible is used to describe those who have received the baptism of the Holy Spirit which some Christians receive years after they officially accept Jesus as their savior and some never receive it.It comes only through prayer. If your personal prayers are not in time answered, you should ask your senior pastor for personal prayer. After you receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit, you will become a much more passionate Christian and in time the Holy Spirit will give you a gift to enable you to help others.Speaking in tongues is the most minor gift that is granted and only helps those who receive it but it does not assist them to help others. You should ask God to give you a gift so that you can minister to others. He'll be happy to answer that prayer for you.

I agree! There are many gifts apart from speaking in tongues. Speaking in tongues is just one of the gift and not all will have this gift. There are other gifts such as wisdom, teaching, hospitality, ability to distinguish between spirits, etc.
