I've noticed that a favorite whipping boy for Trey Parker and Matt Stone is the LDS Church.

Tonight I saw a whole show dedicated to making Joseph Smith's creation of the Book of Mormon look....dum, dum, dum.

With the exception of Angels in America I seldom see mormons used at all but South Park features a sprinklingly of them from time to time and Stone and Parker were behind Orgazmo, which focused on a Mormon missionary who get's involved with...well, if you've seen the movie you know.

They seem to know quite a bit about it and it seems to be on their mind from time to time. Are either of them current, ex or lapsed LDS? (maybe current is a long shot).

I may not agree with LDS theology but I think that making fun of them in this way breaks my heart. I happen to think South Park is disgusting and blasphemous.
And everyone is entitled to their opinion, I personally think that it is great and very funny.......fortunatly the Lord gave you an off button....

South Park is one of the most political shows currently on television. They tackly seperate iddues each and every show. While they may find Mormons dumb, they only exprested themselves on this issue for one show. Mose recent was one about the Passion of the Christ and Mel Gibson. That episode also had something about Cartman turning Passion fans unknowingly into Nazis but that's beside the point. I don't think they were ever Mormons. I say that because they seem to know a lot about most of the topics they cover and I doubt they're a member of every group they cover in their show.

Blasphemy, really? No wonder I like South Park so much.

I find it quite vile myself... but since olddude was so rude to you, I figured I'd come in and speak my mind so you wouldn't feel alone. :)

I don't think you were being rude either....as far as the comment about the off button...Yes the Lord gave me a good off button, brother...but in this case, I don't have to use it as I don't watch South Park at all....I watched it a couple of times in the past (so that you know that I have some basis for my opinion) and I watched the movie with a friend of mine a few years ago...This is why I don't watch it at all now.

MrscoZMo...thank you so much for your support sister! :)

South Park is an equal opportunity offender. These two guys are taking issues we have in the world, and putting them in ways people can better understand them, to learn while you're ROFL. Not to say I agree with everything they believe, but at least they are open to exploring the pros and cons of society, brave enough to put it out there, and talented enough to make us laugh and think at the same time.
As for the Mormon connection, I think it's like others have said about growing up right next to Utah. I think Matt Stone is or was Jewish, I say that because he and Trey Parker based the Kyle and Stan characters on their own lives, down to using the real names of their parents (and their occupations) for Kyle and Stan's parents (Matt=Kyle, Trey=Stan).
