  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Many years ago I was driven to conclude that the two major causes of most emotional problems among evangelical Christians are these: the failure to understand, receive, and live out God's unconditional grace and forgiveness; and the failure to give out that unconditional love, forgiveness and grace to other people.
Think about that for a moment... the failure to understand grace and forgiveness, and the failure to give unconditional love, forgiveness, and grace....

thoughts?

I agree entirely. As Christians, I think we have the greatest truth in this world yet we all too often don't even understand it. I think that is why there so many hurting people in our churches today. That is the main reason behind why I am studying psychology to become a Christian counselor. I just felt impressed by God to go in that direction because so many people simply don't understand.

The failure could be due to some Christians obsession with sinless perfection, if one believes I am perfect or on the rood to perfection one refuses to consider the ability to sin still exists and will be less gracious with the flaws of fellow humans. If I am busy beating up myself on this sinless road imagine my attitude towards others?

so if we as followers cannot grasp the concept of grace or forgiveness what is our witness? Can people see Jesus in us?

No. How can they see Jesus in us if we can't extend grace and forgiveness to others because we don't understand it ourselves?
