CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Joke all you want, but if the Democrats keep walking into blindingly obvious traps like the SOTU, Trump'll be a two-term President. Read over what Trump talked about again, and you'll see that it was generally benign as far as SOTUs go, talking about war orphans, army vets, etc. Whoever crafted that speech for him was brilliant, because they knew that the Democrats were going to sit there looking sour faced, no matter what he said. Therefore, we got the visual of the Democrats looking like Trump just punted their puppy out of a hi-rise window when he talked about helping disabled vets, victims of crimes, etc. Pelosi herself was particularly bad, wallowing her tongue like she was enjoying a particularly tasty tidepod.
Then we had the limp wristed response of theirs, brought to us by Dudley Droolright, and they just had to put a busted up car behind him. That surely wasn't going to get the memes rolling about a certain past incident involving a Kennedy and a car, right? Yet the die-hards were declaring him the next President because he's a Kennedy. Sure, the Democrats more or less crown their candidate, rather than actually vote them in, but if they do coronate this guy, it's going to be a bloodbath. Not only is he no where near as good as Obama at speaking, the far-left wing of the party would not accept a white straight male as the nominee. It'd be Hillary/Sanders all over again.
This doesn't mean I believe in that 4d chess nonsense, but one doesn't have to be Zhuge Liang to defeat the Democrats at this point. Mr. Bean could outwit them.

A Republican shouted 'YOU LIE!' in the middle of an equally benign Obama SOTU and it didn't make the damnest bit of difference to anything. You think Dems not enthusiastically applauding and cheering for a guy they are ideologically completely opposed to is going to cost them an election? Please..
