Disappointing for my friends who own or work at a Subway. Hopefully will raise some awareness that this kind of sick abuse happens every day and will make at least a few people more alert to signs around them. That is about the only good that could come out of this.

Well where hes going most people don't like pedos so the subway "slogan" is something he will be facing every day from them. Except they are free.

I'd say jokes aside but its actually true. Pedos get all sorts of horrible things done to them in prison. I am sad to hear though he was like this but we humans are good at hiding things it seems. If I read though he never actually did anything with a minor right? Just sent texts/emails? I mean thats still horrible of course

Yeah, he did stuff. He plead guilty to sex with a minor.

Yeah - apparently he was traveling across state borders to buy sex with minors (prostitution) - and there were all sorts of text messages they've retrieved where he'd be asking the minor/prostitute that he'd just had sex with to line someone else up for him.

...and "the younger the better"

Let that be a lesson to companies that put all their eggs in one basket/make one person so important to them. Especially when the guy really did nothing but eat some sandwiches to lose a ton of weight he arguably never should have had to begin with.

Personally, I always found the guy to be kinda odd IMHO. But I chalked it up to probable social dysfunction as a result of years of being morbidly obese. Didn't see this coming.

My brother was in prison and said where he was the "chomos"(pedophiles) were kept separate from the rest of the prisoners. They were allowed more than the other prisoners for this reason as well. The state has to ensure their safety while in their custody and for this reason, pedophiles dont have it that bad in prison and in some ways have it better.
God will find a fitting prison. His time will come.

It breaks my heart. In related news, one of my FB feeds was a news article from an Oklahoma friend where 168 children were rescued from sex trafficking in a raid. The especially sad part was some of those children had not been reported missing.

The meat at subway is the same nitrate-pumped grade-C meat that they have at other fast food places. it's neither fresh nor healthy. and now I've been gluten-free for over a year and subway doesn't offer an option for that.
so I don't participate in footlong anything, $5 or no.

While I abhor what those people have done to children, that doesn't mean that it's okay to rape or otherwise defile them, "so that they know what it feels like." While I abhor what those people have done to children, that doesn't mean that it's okay to rape or otherwise defile them, "so that they know what it feels like." It does absolutely nothing to "cure" these individuals.

Yes, in most prisons the pedophiles are not kept with the purely criminal even though no one was able to protect the children from the child molester predator. Why should the tax payer have to pay for extra care-facility for the child molester and give him a separate facility from the other criminals? I have no sympathy if the child molester has to deal with the criminals and what they do to him. I follow what Jesus said about those that would offend or harm the children.

Actually, a child molester being molested by an inmate is not as severe as being drowned.

Next, can we really keep our kids safe from monsters? Given the thoughtful three-part series on sexual predators in the New York Times this week, we've been mulling whether predators are hard-wired to be predators and whether they can ever really stop. More and more states (New York could be the 20th) have passed civil commitment laws which effectively keep convicted predators off the streets even after they've served their prison time. The idea is to commit them to rehabilitation programs in secure facilities. It is nearly 5-times as costly as incarceration. But perhaps more to the point: There seems virtually no evidence predators can actually be "cured." Discussions about this sound like alcoholism in that you can never be cured but the key is to control the urge. Today, when a Florida jury convicted John Couey in the monstrous murder and abuse of 9-year-old Jessica Lunsford, we realized we should pull all these strands together for tonight. After all, Couey has a history of preying on children. He couldn't stop. With everything we know now, our special tonight is called, "Monsters Next Door, Can They Be Stopped?"
