Hey Gang.

I've been recently worked on the concepts of sonship vs salvation. Modern evangelicals will say that full salvation occurs when you receive the revelation that Jesus is the Christ and your spirit is birthed by God, and you'll get into Heaven when you're severed from the flesh. It is almost as if this organic relationship is one of 1's and 0's, everything pigeon-holed, and in it's place. I say that this falls far short of the plane of God's thought and spiritual desire.

We begin as toddlers, and even the slightest act or emotion will bring joy to our Father's face (if you are a parent, you'll know what I'm saying), and it doesn't matter that we are walking or talking yet, but we wouldn't want to be toddlers forever. We would expect to develop and grow into things we've never seen before in Life, into knowledge of ourselves and our Progenitor, and into the recognized authority of the Father. We expect to experience new things, and grow out of the old childlike ways. Eventually, we grow up in Him. The Father lays down rules by which we must operate, and tells us that we must have the car home by 6:30. Yes, the rules are tight, but they are for our own blessing and benefit, as His wisdom and high perspective afford. He is able to make rules that, once followed, will lead His children into a glorious and bountiful life of abundance and sound character. He hands us the keys, and we are off. We know that even at birth He loved us, and still does, and when we arrive home at 9:45 (you may replace this example with your own personal sin), we assume He will overlook this thing. The country law says that you were to be killed if you came home late, but God overcame that at your birth by getting you dual citizenship. Now, here is where the problem arises.

This is where we Christians are stuck like glue to the floor. Evangelicals approach their Father like a book. "God, you've forgiven me. It says here that I won't be killed, and that I've been set free from this rule. It also says you love me, so I can clearly presuppose that you won't punish me." God WANTS to punish us in this circumstance, and this is something I've rarely seen in modern thought. It's not that He delights in pain or punishment, but He loves the correction, the setting right, the "fulfilment of the righteous requirement of the law," and this is part of His purpose. He got rid of the constraints of the law so we could receive the Spirit of the Law, AND FULFIL THE LAW (not Mosaic but sonship laws, or moral laws).

The Spirit of the Law will fulfil the "righteous requirement of the Law." We often view our experience as getting from one experience of forgiveness to another, and lose sight that the demand upon us is to be perfect, to overcome. I believe we have been given the tools and desire to attain to such a place, and that anything short will be forgiven, yes, but more than forgiven, corrected through chastizement. What's better than being let go? "Don't worry about coming home late, that's ok, I love you." Being punished. "You ain't getting the car back until you learn. Then you can ride around all you want." You see, it's not a matter of law, but of proper growth!!

KJV Hebrews 12:6
For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.
NLT Hebrews 12:6
For the Lord disciplines those he loves,
and he punishes those he accepts as his children

God did not just rescue us from condemnation, He allowed us into His own corrective purposes that we might experience true sonship. If you want to be a full son, and I know I do, lets take the next step in this journey and begin to expect the punitive hand of God in our lives.

In Him,
Deg

WOW, that really speaks to my heart. For a long time I arrogantly thought that I had escaped punishment because I refused to accept it! The way I was brought up was not the proper way so this only added to my confusion on the subject. My dad was so sweet, but he was deceived. He did not inflict proper punishment on me, for some reason guilt ruled him. He was mastered by sin (finally a year before he died, he was free, thank God in His Mercy) and as a result his vision was distorted. He would feel sorry for me when I "rebelled" because deep down inside he knew his example was wrong, and he knew that was what my problem was. It was twisted really, the whole thing was horrible, we were being stold from, killed, and destroyed, because there were no consequences for our actions.
God has been Merciful to me because He has taught me this from Heaven. As I said I went my whole life escaping, until one day ALL the acts I had committed had come to collect, it seemed. I cried, At first I thought that this hell was too much for me to bear and God must have let me go. He is so good to allow this. I have learned, and am learning punishment hurts for a time, but the lesson learned saves my soul from hell. What is more Merciful than that!
Now, in my walk I want to please God not to avoid the punishment, but because I know how much He loves me. I am seeking His pleasure.
Thanks Deg. THis needs to be pointed out since punishment at the time hurts so bad, we can't see the end result is worth it!

Amen! Continued and extended salvation through internal growth...that's what I see in the statements like "saved to the uttermost," "a better resurrection," "overcoming," "rewards." They all speak about something greater than simple justification through faith, a deeper dimension of Union than forgiveness provides.

A wise man once said "What you desire, you will have. Is that all you want??" Is forgiveness all we want? Don't we want the testimony of Enoch or Elijah? These men never died, now that's a testimony. And I can only imagine what trials and provings and purifications they had to go through to become approved men. They were able to enter into the Glory, and I believe that much of the same is open to the eager heart today. Perhaps the experiences will not be of the same end or calibre, but certainly of the same sort and Spirit.

Lets go for it, and lets lay everything else aside. Lets focus on that Cross, and the righteous victories it will give the sinning believer. Lets see the perfection that was demanded of Timothy put into place in the modern church, however backslidden and separated from the Life of God it may be. Lets begin to run, laying aside everything that's not of God, shooting for the testimony and the experiences of the men of Old.

Amen and amen! Yes, let's! I'm encouraged and motivated for the day!
Today, the one word I'm keeping close is "dedication." And you guys nailed it.
I'm running for Him with all myself, I pray everyone in this forum does to.

I am reminded on a conversation that I had with a friend of mine, about the altar. Altar - Means a place of meeting with God as well as a place of recall / remembrance
Sacrifice – Ourselves / Our flesh lives
Fire - God, Our God is a consuming fire
In the old testament, After putting the animal on the sacrifice, the fire would ascend from heaven, and burn the sacrifice. We also have to allow ourselves to be put on the altar. Let the fire descend and burn us, our flesh lives. As the sacrifice burns, the smell, is a sweet savour to the Lord.

Romans 12:1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

In this TV programme, the school kids were on an educational tour, touring the mines. And the smelter, while orientating the students, was on the other hand processing the gold in the fire (called a metallurgical operation?). One of the students asked a question, that how does he, the smelter know when the gold is well processed, and the smelter said if I look and see myself in it.

When we put our selves on the altar, we not only burn our flesh life, but we are also being refined. The product that comes out of there, will be fit for human consumption.

Mal 3:3

And he shall sit as a refiner and purifier of silver: and he shall purify the sons of Levi, and purge them as gold and silver, that they may offer unto the LORD an offering in righteousness.

* It becomes a loss of leadership, when we allow the flesh to rule the physical. We have to let the Spiritual to take charge at all times
