Son's nightmare

My son is just ten yrs old and has nightmares from time to time about demons. He used to have them quiet alot until I started spiritual warfare to stop them. But once in awhile he still has one. He woke me up I think around 5 or so this morning scared cause he had one of these bad dreams again. They aren't usually the same thing, always different. I just thought I would post it and see if it meant anything or not.

He said he dreamed the sirens in town started going off and this time instead of us just going to the basement right away like we do when the sirens go off for a tornado, that first we locked all the doors in the house...even the one going out to the garage. He said his friends were there (but I guess they left when the sirens went off) and that I said some man was trying to hit me. He said the man had demons inside of him and was trying to breath on me and if he did, he would become a normal man again as the demons would leave him and go into me. But I wasn't letting him breath on me...and this is why I went and locked all the doors.

Then we went to the basement and stayed in the orange room (that is his playroom which the walls really are painted orange and where we really do go if the torando sirens go off) and we closed the door to that room too. He said then people were knocking on all the doors upstairs...at first it was his friends....all knocking on the doors....but then later the knocking came again on all the doors but this time it wasn't his friends, it was this man.

He said that was the scariest dream he ever had and in it he could feel things...which he said never happened before in any of his dreams. I asked him what he meant, he said like when he touched something he could actually feel it. I image the knocking on the doors of someone with bad intentions wanting in, would be pretty scarey too! I don't know why he has dreams like this...I wish he wouldn't as they are so very frightening for him. Anyway I just thought I would post and see if anyone had any insights about it.

(edited) I just remembered what else my son said in this dream...he asked me while we stayed in the orange room if this man's lungs couldn't be operated on to get the demon's out and I told him no. He said the demon's were all in his man's lungs and that is why he wanted to breath them out into me. I also wanted to add that while I have heard of things like this...but only from the bible in Jesus' breathing His spirit onto His diciples, I really have no idea where my son would have gotten this idea from. He also said the man or the demon's couldn't be killed either.

Sirens and the color orange signify to be on high alert! Would certainly seem this a nightmare perpetrated by the enemy (the man with bad intentions) to incite your son to fear. This is a scheme against your son to deceive him into believing that, even with his Christian faith, the devil and demons are invincible. The enemy was seemingly pretending to be you in telling your son that the demons were inoperable.

Since breath is mentioned much, would seem that someone's lungs may come under attack and they may even be given a diagnosis of inoperable...yet this ailment is only demonic and will be easily cured through Christ's precious, powerful and already shed Blood!

Also since the man turns from evil to normal and the friends turn into the evil man that would seem to say there could be a persistent wolf in sheep's clothing near...tho they may seem Christian, the words they breathe (false teaching) and their ulterior motives (bad fruit) will prove otherwise.

This nightmare actually gives you keen sight for effective spiritual warfare to thwart the devil's schemes! Any weapon formed against you and your family shall be thwarted! (Isaiah 54:17)

Whitestar your son is never to young to turn to God and take a knee and learn to rebute the devil and his munckins. if your 90 or if your 10 you can turn to God and in Jesus name punch holes in the lier and his munckins. no ones ever to young to learn the power of Christ. teach your son to turn to God and tell the devil to be gone. maybe your son knows to do this i hope so.

Recently I meant a group of Christians online that have an extremely different view of things...which I don't agree with but I am still wondering if even though I am being carefull, if they could still be affecting me somehow. I don't know...I will pray on it though. Thanks for your help.

I have been battling a spirit of fear with my daughter too. She would get nightmares. I pray over her every night and rebuke satan and his demons in Jesus' name. After that I pray for the Holy Spirit to fill her with comfort and peace.
One night when we first started it, we forgot to pray, and lo and behold, she had a nightmare that very night.
A spirit of fear is a tough one to get rid of, but 'we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us'
to Him be all glory, honor and praise!

My son was recently being bothered with nightmares too. He's six. He would dream about wolves and bears and things with sharp teeth. After another night waking up at 2 or 3 in the morning I asked God what was going on and I felt that He said it was a spirit of fear.
I planned how I was going to get it out, one plan included re-decorating the room, which makes me laugh to think about it, but it was 3 in the morning!
Anyway, the next night as I was putting my son to bed, I burst into praise and worship, singing 'Holy, Holy Lord God Almighty, worthy is the Lamb who was slain' completely unplanned, but it was coming form my spirit and not just my mind. The nightmares stopped the same night Praise God!
I know that if the nightmares come back, I can't repeat the same process and hope for the same answer, because I have to depend on God to lead me. If I start to think I'm big enough or clever enough to beat them myself, well, sons of sceva!

Have you tried praying scriptures like the 23rd Psalm ect bfore bed? Pleading the blood of Christ over your children & family & claiming sweet sleep? Playing praise CD's in there room. My newborn loves her lullabye one that we play almost every nite
Sometimes I go to sleep meditating on Jesus is Lord in so I can claim that in my dreams...that has worked some.
& millerd is rite our children are never to young to learn how to fite the enemy when necessary & claim our paid for rite of victory over measily satan.

Im thinking that your children are probably under attack bcause they are so sensitive to the spiritual world. But they most likely have an annointing of gifts & the devil is trying to destroy this.
I know when I was growing up I was extrememly sensitive & I grew up in a traditional conservative denomination so I had'nt a clue how to fite this till I was a young adult. I pray my children not have to go through what I did & not be afraid & struggling at nitetime.

It's good that you have been exercising authority in your son's spiritual world. We are all connected, after all. Keep doing so, and please remember to ask God to allow you to make up the hedge and stand in the gap around your son even while YOU are sleeping. Strive to put on the whole armor of God.

On another note, however, I don't really think that we should be analyzing demonic attacks to see some "spiritual gift". Satan is a liar and murderer. Period.

The Lord gave me instruction to share with youngsters. "Just tell them if anything is messing with them in their dreams, then they should just say, 'In the name of Jesus, Get Out!"...

He didn't say analyze the dream sequence etc. The bottom line is that it was an unwanted visitor. As someone mentioned in another thread, we should not give "honor" or place to the devil. Simply rebuke him and see the attack for what it was. If Jesus wanted to reveal a spiritual truth to you, then He will do so. But do not seek your learning from the enemy's darkness.

By the way, MILLIONS of children are under attack EACH WEEK...MILLIONS....

I do a little teaching in this area, but certainly not nearly enough. It's an area which is often overlooked. Yet, Jesus admonished the disciples for not praying before going to sleep.

Rationale: "Prevent Temptation"

WHY: Because People can be "led" astray or oppressed during their dreams.

Read Matthew 26:40-41 and seek deeper understanding.

That actually makes me think... This man could be what these people believe, and all the knocking could be all of them (and their beliefs) wanting to come into your house and you and make things as a constant panic.

I don't understand what you are talking about here...about 'analyzing demonic attacks to see some spiritual gifts? I didn't see anyone talking about anything like that on here so I am confused...could you explain?

My son and I are very connected, very bonded...I think for what ever reason, The Lord allowed him to have this dream to tell me about it...and that its a warning for me...and I believe I know excatly who in my life is causing it...someone claiming to be a Christian that has a bad spirit about them.

Now why God didn't give me the dream directly, I don't know. Maybe He knew my son having it would impress me more...I don't know.

I think the following post hit the nail on the head though by FireOfGod in completing what HumbleBee said...these people are strongly into producting fear of the end times, fear of the beast and a New World Order and showed me some rather sickening websites on how people are tortured and abused as a way to control their minds. I showed this to another 'trusted' group of Christians because it upset me so much I couldn't really investage it...they found many major flaws in including the site selling New Age stuff so you feel better after they created a panic in you!! Very sick stuff...and the sad thing is these first group of people believe this stuff is real and going on. They must live or thrive in terror...I can't handle it...and yes it made my spirit feel sick too...

Anyway I do appericate all the insights on this...I wish someone could tell me why my son has these dreams for me though. It makes me wonder about past dreams he has had now...

Oh and I do pray for the covering of the blood of Jesus over him all the time, and for a hedge of protection to be around him...both of us and to bind away any evil spirits too...

OVERALL, we know that Jesus is King of Kings and Lord of Lords. That's a fact. Nothing happens without His allowing it to happen. Jesus could have stopped the people from dying, or being sick, or being possessed or oppressed by the devil BEFORE that even happend.

The point is that He NEVER said "just" let the little critters remain around. The word of God says that Jesus has no fellowship with Belial. And righteousness has nothing to do with unrighteousness.

I apologize to you if I am coming off a bit strong, but I have met people who had AIDS and thought that they should just accept it. We do not accept the lies of the devil. We submit to God, and we resist the devil.

In fact, Jesus marveled at the time when He could not deliver people from the devil's oppression because of their unbelief.

Your body and my body and the next believer's body is the temple of the Holy Ghost. It belongs to God. Jesus came to evict the enemy from out of the temple. So, I strongly urge anybody in this kinda of environment to speak the word without ceasing against the enemy, and give Him no place.

Remember that the word declares that God does not tempt men with evil.

If God chooses to give me a dream, then I pay attention. It is true that we may see some of the enemy's methods during an attack. However, I personally do not see much need to engage in a "maybe this" or "maybe that" analysis of the enemy's trespass upon the believer's world.

The main thing that I do when helping people with these kinda of attacks is to try to show them the "weaknesses" which are in their own spirit which may need to be strengthened. For instance, someone who is always being attacked with a lustful spirit, probably needs to control their sexual desires and put the flesh under foot with much more authority. A person who keeps getting attacked with fearful situations would need to learn how to walk in complete authority and power instead of yielding to the wrong kinda spirit. A person who is always getting involved in crazy outlandish and weird dreams would need to learn how to rule their spirit to such a degree that they shun these kinda crazy dreams.


With myself, my mind has become so alert that I notice things that send red flags to my spiritual monitor. For instance, once it was the simple fact of puttiing hangers in a closet "backward". That seemed odd to me. Next thing I know, my inner warning signal goes off because I realize that it's a demon. Once, it was the simple fact that a car turned one direction when it should have turned another. In another instance, it was the fact that early on in the dream, I had asked for phone number. Yet, when I asked for the phone number later on in the dream, a different number was given. These things sent warning bells ringing in my spiritual world.

If a person asks God to keep them from temptation, and deliver them from evil, then they might be surprised at just how much God speaks to us and tries to guide us out of disastrous situations..

Now, there was another instance where I had lost my briefcase in a dark pond. Just as I thought about jumping in to retrieve it, a voice spoke loud and clear, "NO!". But it was too late, I jumped right in. Yet, as I went down into the water to retrieve the briefcase, I begin to wonder if I could make it back to the top. I just knew that I couldn't make it. I was going to drown in the dream. I was overcome with fear, and instead of exercising the authority that I had been practicing, I paniced and cried out, "JESUS, SAVE ME!"...

Instantly, I awakened.....On the wall, there was a dark shadowy/spidery thing that disappered from sight.

So, when it comes to the nightmares, that's about all I focus on: Showing people how to be victorious and walk in the love of Jesus even within their sleep.

I am happy you are able to do this, but we are talking about a ten year old child here that doesn't know how to do this yet. I am sorry you disprove of me posting this dream, but the bible makes it clear that God uses satan for His own means too. Remember what happened to Job? Or would you go up to Job disproving of his suffering and tell him he just needed to rebuke satan also? God clearly allowed this to happen. Its find to approach people who are clearly under spiritual attack with this information but your approach comes off as attacking and as if you disprove...

You can disagree with that all you want, but its what I believe especially afterwares when some other things happened that made it clear the dream was right on target. As I said, my son very rarely has any bad dreams anymore anyway. I do use spiritual warfare on his behalf because he is too young to do it for himself yet.

Not sure this will help... or maybe it will. Years ago I would open a Bible and lay it on a shelf in a room that I felt cold and uncomfortable in. When we left for vacation, I would open a Bible (sometimes to my favorite verse in it which comforted me) and lay it in the entry way of our home while we were gone. We would come back to the house after a week or two, and things would be well and normal. One time I forgot to place my Bible open on the entry way when we left. When we came back the toilet had overflowed, and a large amount of sewage was all over the bathroom floor and smelled up the house greatly.

I concluded not to ever forget the open Bible again!

I understand how you feel...but there is no glory in Satan's unrighteousness....Even though God allowed Satan to attack Job, it was not so that the enemy could be glorified....

Furthermore, even Job was attacked by demons and he tried to blame it on God. See Job 7:14...Later on, Job gets a rebuke/admonishment from God because Job had been speaking about stuff from the wrong perspective and without knowledge...

I WAS COMMANDED TO TELL CHILDREN SIMPLY:

"If something messes with you in your dreams, then just say, "In the name of Jesus, Get Out"...It is not complicated. It is not like we need a theological degree or some 3 day seminar. Simply calling on the name of Jesus is sufficient...

When JOB got His heart and mind in the right place, THEN the bondage of darkness was broken. Of course, I have no intentions of arguing with you or anybody else on these matters....

I would just caution you to not read to much into the enemy's dreams...even though I spend a lot of time on another site helping people through these situations, the focus is upon God, and putting ont he armor of God.. I show people how they should guard their mind and keep their focus on the peace and love and mercy that is in Jesus.....

As long as you get the needed results is what counts!!!

Just a little note. God does send warning dreams...But He does not torment us with nightmares. Period. Every good gift and every perfect gift comes from above from the Father of Lights in whom there is no variableness, nor shadow of turning. God is the Father of Lights, in whom there is NO DARKNESS...Jesus has no fellowship with Belial. NONE..ZIP..NADA...

Just remember that there are many voices in the world, and they don't all have life.

When Satan attacked Job with nightmares, it wasn't God sending Job some messages. And when Satan destroyed Job's family, business, etc., that was not God sending Job some message....Just because the enemy is around doesn't mean that he's God's messenger...Through it all, however, we find out that God's grace is more than sufficient for us...He carries us through the storms and to the distant shore....

We are in the same boat...and that is a wonderful thing....Just continue trusting in the Lord and not in flesh, and you can never go wrong...

I don't know why he has dreams like this...I wish he wouldn't as they are so very frightening for him. Anyway I just thought I would post and see if anyone had any insights about it.

(edited) I just remembered what else my son said in this dream...he asked me while we stayed in the orange room if this man's lungs couldn't be operated on to get the demon's out and I told him no. He said the demon's were all in his man's lungs and that is why he wanted to breath them out into me. I also wanted to add that while I have heard of things like this...but only from the bible in Jesus' breathing His spirit onto His diciples, I really have no idea where my son would have gotten this idea from. He also said the man or the demon's couldn't be killed either.

As to the REASON your son has dreams like this. I would venture it is the atmosphere or the focus of teachings he's heard.

10 years old is to young to be worrying about demons, I think. At least if your going to relate the notion of demons to a child it should be as gently as possible.

I would tell your son this: The devil is like a person who operates outside of God's Law. Just like a criminal in our society. And just like we have policemen and such in our society who outnumber the criminals. God has angels who out number the satan and his fellow criminals. I'd keep away from the word Demons or Devils for what they conjure in your sons mind. Satan is a beggarly criminal stripped of all the real power he once had and is now left only with deception and fear. But God's Police Force is more then a match for satan who does his work in darkness and doesn't have any real strength over a child of God. Only the power to deceive, a power which is broken when a person knows God's word.

Keep your son away from teachings on demonology and such. He should be sleeping like a child. Play soothing Christian music for him as he goes to sleep, leave a night light on for him, etc.

What you sow you will also reap. If you invest a lot of time in thinking about, studying, talking about the devil and what demons do, you will reap the results and stir up trouble. I'm not saying be ignorant of the devil but he's a minor subject, or should be. The major subject should be prayer praise and worship. And I wouldn't be praying out loud over my son, "Lord protect my son from the torments of evil spirits, etc.," I don't know that you do that but if so, you'll send his ten year old imagination into high gear. He should be going to bed with a smile on his face and a song in his heart.
