- Rand Paul is the most popular Republican candidate, and he's actually a Libertarian.
- Bernie Sanders is the most popular Democratic candidate, and he's actually a Socialist.
- Trump isn't in it to win it, he's just in it for the publicity.
I think it would be terribly ironic to see this election turn into a race between two third party candidates.
I base my measure of relative popularity off of Facebook likes. Twitter follows are unreliable due to the large number of bots, and polls are unreliable measures of long-term popularity but are great at giving a window into each candidates momentary short-term popularity. Additionally, basing my numbers off Facebook includes accepting the reality that people like more than one candidate this early in the race. Facebook likes give an idea of the long-term following each candidate has.
- Rand Paul: 2.035 million likes
- Mike Huckabee: 1.787 million likes
- Ben Carson: 1.708 million likes
- Bernie Sanders: 1.509 million likes
- Ted Cruz: 1.285 million likes
- Rick Perry: 1.204 million likes
- Hillary Clinton: 1.078 million likes
- Marco Rubio: 0.914 million likes

anyone below this point is not a serious contender for office ---
- Scott Walker: 0.333 million likes
- Bobby Jindal: 0.265 million likes
- Jeb Bush: 0.222 million likes
- Adolf Hitler: 0.184 million likes
--- anyone below this point is less liked than Adolf Hitler ---
- Carly Fiorina: 0.124 million likes
- Lindsey Graham: 0.122 million likes
- Chris Christie: 0.113 million likes
- John Kasich: 0.111 million likes
- Martin O'Malley: 0.074 million likes
- Jim Webb: 0.028 million likes
- George Pataki: 0.017 million likes
- Lincoln Chafee: 0.008 million likes
I really, really like unusual polls like these.
Do you have something recent that lists Donald Trump? He joined the race like last week?
Why is Trump in it? Publicity? Trump is in it like every time he was in it. If he sees he cannot win he uses that as publicity.
However, if he sees he could win, he would go for it, in my opinion.
And if we have 3rd party candidates running, whose problem is it?
We are being run by families - Bushes, Clintons, Kennedys, Roosevelts.
The job of the President has procedures that you follow. Anyone who is smart can follow.
To be a President all you have to do is be smart or shrewd and egotistical. Ego would keep you afraid of failure.
I am sick and tired of a Republican and Democratic (mostly establishment) propaganda - "you don't want that candidate because s/he cannot beat the other guy".
These "idiots" (with all due respect) are actually so blinded by their machinery and procedures they sound stupid.
Politicians are not stupid and never idiots. These are smart cookies.
The Politics makes them sound stupid.
So, some Republican big guy was saying the other day that we cannot have Trump because he is a Loser and will not be able to beat Hillary. They will nominate a Winner they think who will beat Hillary.
Yet these same people nominated McCain one year and Romney 4 years later and both Lost to a guy who had no experience managing even a small town or running a large business.
I would not mind Trump driving the bus for 4 years.
