Apparently there is a bunch of veterans who claim McCain was not a war hero in a context that he was giving out all types of info to the enemy once captured and had like 30 or so propaganda audios made.
I personally not blaming anyone who gives up info.
But this certainly disqualifies him from being a war hero, doesn't it?

And as a Senator later on he was blocking declassification of POW documents. Maybe he was hiding something?

If Trump wrecks the Republican party (I really, really hope the establishment from both sides are pushed back to the bleachers) I would break my habit of not voting and actually vote for the guy.
We already turned into a country that is run by families.
What is this mafia or monarchy? :swoon:
Bushes,
Clintons,
Kennedies,
Roosevelts ...

Are we that stupid or naive or brainwashed or afraid to realize that the 2 party systems and elections we currently have are a sham?
We are being run over by the same people over and over again.

I hope for a miracle and Trump lasts.

After the Obama, Bush and now Hillary embarrassments - cannot be that bad if Trump drives the bus for 4 years.

Good point.

You have raised some excellent points.

  • Rand Paul is the most popular Republican candidate, and he's actually a Libertarian.
  • Bernie Sanders is the most popular Democratic candidate, and he's actually a Socialist.
  • Trump isn't in it to win it, he's just in it for the publicity.
I think it would be terribly ironic to see this election turn into a race between two third party candidates.

I base my measure of relative popularity off of Facebook likes. Twitter follows are unreliable due to the large number of bots, and polls are unreliable measures of long-term popularity but are great at giving a window into each candidates momentary short-term popularity. Additionally, basing my numbers off Facebook includes accepting the reality that people like more than one candidate this early in the race. Facebook likes give an idea of the long-term following each candidate has.
  1. Rand Paul: 2.035 million likes
  2. Mike Huckabee: 1.787 million likes
  3. Ben Carson: 1.708 million likes
  4. Bernie Sanders: 1.509 million likes
  5. Ted Cruz: 1.285 million likes
  6. Rick Perry: 1.204 million likes
  7. Hillary Clinton: 1.078 million likes
  8. Marco Rubio: 0.914 million likes
--- anyone below this point is not a serious contender for office ---
  1. Scott Walker: 0.333 million likes
  2. Bobby Jindal: 0.265 million likes
  3. Jeb Bush: 0.222 million likes
  4. Adolf Hitler: 0.184 million likes
--- anyone below this point is less liked than Adolf Hitler ---
  1. Carly Fiorina: 0.124 million likes
  2. Lindsey Graham: 0.122 million likes
  3. Chris Christie: 0.113 million likes
  4. John Kasich: 0.111 million likes
  5. Martin O'Malley: 0.074 million likes
  6. Jim Webb: 0.028 million likes
  7. George Pataki: 0.017 million likes
  8. Lincoln Chafee: 0.008 million likes

I really, really like unusual polls like these.
Do you have something recent that lists Donald Trump? He joined the race like last week?

Why is Trump in it? Publicity? Trump is in it like every time he was in it. If he sees he cannot win he uses that as publicity.
However, if he sees he could win, he would go for it, in my opinion.

And if we have 3rd party candidates running, whose problem is it?
We are being run by families - Bushes, Clintons, Kennedys, Roosevelts.

The job of the President has procedures that you follow. Anyone who is smart can follow.
To be a President all you have to do is be smart or shrewd and egotistical. Ego would keep you afraid of failure.

I am sick and tired of a Republican and Democratic (mostly establishment) propaganda - "you don't want that candidate because s/he cannot beat the other guy".
These "idiots" (with all due respect) are actually so blinded by their machinery and procedures they sound stupid.
Politicians are not stupid and never idiots. These are smart cookies.
The Politics makes them sound stupid.
So, some Republican big guy was saying the other day that we cannot have Trump because he is a Loser and will not be able to beat Hillary. They will nominate a Winner they think who will beat Hillary.
Yet these same people nominated McCain one year and Romney 4 years later and both Lost to a guy who had no experience managing even a small town or running a large business.

I would not mind Trump driving the bus for 4 years.

McCain is being swift-boated? Great, just great.

There are other, better choices than Trump. He's not much better than Herman Cain was.
Oh yeah, swift boat Kerry.
Thanks for reminding ... no wonder Kerry defends McCain. ^_^

Yes, but the number is going to be inaccurate. All of the people I listed above attained their fame and their Facebook likes primarily through politics, so we can safely assume that the majority of their following is interested in their political career.

If we look at people who have an established following outside of politics, the numbers don't measure the same thing, so we can't rely on the accuracy of these numbers - they don't show us political interest as accurately as the ones above.
  • Arnold Schwarzenegger: 13.342 million
  • Snooki: 11.797 million
  • Donald Trump: 2.550 million

OK, so these are accumulative numbers and not a thermometer.
Oh well, maybe we can think of a way to find our own way to see how people actually like or dislike an individual.

You should... cause that person is a traitor and in times of war they get shot on sight!
Oh, that is true.
If he was just a songbird - he is a traitor and should not have made these propaganda tapes
Jane Fonda was one of those types I guess, but she was just an actress at that time.
But yes, if you are just singing - you are a traitor.

However, generally speaking I cannot blame people if they face torture not to talk.

I'm sorry... what part of my post even remotely suggested that?

I was referring to back during the Vietnam war, or in any major war, if the military catches a traitor they shoot them.

Well, they did in WW2 going back. Now they probably get elected to Congress! :sorry:

I am curious, maybe you know, if someone gives up info under torture is this considered to be treason?

I opened this thread under assumption he was singing without being tortured, at least in the opinion of his buddies.

I'm not an expert on the matter, but so far as I'm aware, under extreme torture it would probably be argued that he wasn't responsible for his actions.

Five years is a long time to spend in a POW camp.
