There's been some weird buzz on Twitter today about conservative cardinals plotting to oust Francis. I mean, it's kind of funny and ironic to me given what the Sankt Gallen Mafia's done, but at the same time if the plot is out there in the aether then they've already failed.

If he doesn't want to be ousted, nobody but God can oust him. And that would involve a funeral most likely. No group of cardinals can do it. Not even all of them together. But they could give him a profound declaration of no confidence. Up to now there have been measured hints of no confidence by a few cardinals but most seem to have gone out of their way in insisting on unity.

I think the buzz is mostly amplifier hum. But we shall see. The book release is officially tomorrow, although lots of people undoubtedly already have their copies already.

That's what seems so silly about this story, if anything conservative cardinals would know that. They're the ones who understand the Church's rules better than their progressive counterparts.

I agree. He jumped the shark a long time ago when he did a video about whether Biden defecated himself while meeting Francis at the Vatican in 2021. Satire or not, that was ridiculous.

I disagree. He can be "encouraged" to step down and then concede. Politics and wrongdoing is rampant in any institution. And the Church is no exception. Something was pretty wrong going on for a Pope to step down in the last 600 years. That just doesn't happen. Something's up. And I think the book is going to open a lot of eyes.
