I used the Sigma 70-300 APO DG (about $150, and vastly better than most zooms because it almost eliminates chromatic aberration).

It's f4.0-5.6, not really fast, but good enough for sports and even night sports, if you're careful. I use a Pentax K20, and the built-in shake reduction really works.

The GIMP is amazingly useful. I have no interest in spending hundreds on Photoshop when I can do so much, so easily with an open source image program.

I love the human voice. I listen to a gregorian chant a lot, and the choir at my old Church sang so beautifully. My wife and I missed lessons and carols, last weekend, unfortunately. But all that is to say, I think the human voice is one of my favorite of God's creations. There is nothing quite like Agnus Dei.

Wow, that was an unusually disorganized paragraph. But I don't want to change it because that's how I feel. :)

I love the amazing adaptability of the human body, how a couch potato like me was able t train for my first marathon in one 6 short months.

I love music, the way that collections of sounds can be manipulated to evoke such strong emotions as joy, sadness, excitement, tension, and fear.

I love the beauty of snow, but I don't love the cold weather. Speaking of that, I almost took a picture the other day that would have been perfect for this thread. The lot where I park is just across the River Raisin from my office. When I was walking across the bridge the other day, I notices that a portion of the river had frozen up and become covered with snow, but that the flow of the river had and the dam had shaped the frozen portion into the most interesting and beautiful shape.

Thanks for the thread. A great reminder of why it is we care about these issues in the first place.

sfs: Thanks for the picture! That is EXACTLY what I was talking about. It's breathtakingly beautiful.

I am also a huge fan of fire. The way flames dance, and move, the colors (especially when you introduce things besides wood and coal to give it colors, green flames are really pretty).

I want to thank you all for all your responses, and hope we get more soon :) I'm quite curious to see what Juvie, Calypsis, Mark Kennedy, truly love in God's Creation.
