I have a nice sized group of friends, but only two of us are non-christian. Me and Chi(her nickname). We are the ones with the most problems. Do you think the fact that we're not christians has anything to do with it? I mean the stuff she's gone through is really bad. I've only had to struggle with cutting. But maybe we're suffering because we dont believe?

Everyone suffers with something, christian or not. The difference is in how one deals with it. I have found that having Christ makes those issues easier for me and less large. I have also found that most peoples issues are not as bad as they think.
However, if you are struggling with cutting I hope you are seeking professional help. It is a serious issue.
Best of luck.

I'm not getting any help really. I rarely ever do it and when I do its not really bad. And her problems are like really bad. I wanna kill her dad for being such an (for lack of a better word) ass. I wanna kill her mom for being so bossy. I have nothing wrong with me yet I get depressed a lot. It's odd..

Proverbs 15:13(KJV) A merry heart maketh a cheerful countenance: but by sorrow of the heart the spirit is broken.

Not really...Life has its ups and downs. Without a mediating force, an ok but not great time could become dreadful.

but I have odd ups and downs. i'll be jumping off the walls one second then I'll be depressed the next. Like literally. You cant say thats not odd, because it is. It's not even like the normal mood swings..
I also get these feelings like somethings not right and then I'll find out my friend's either doing something stupid, or thinking about doing something stupid.

I second the doctor thing. Being as you're 14, you should have access to a school psychologist who can at least give you some insight into your mood swings. That's the same age mine started, and it was a long, long journey into mental health for me. Ideally, that won't be the issue, but just in case it is.. the sooner you identify it, the sooner you can work through it.

That said, being religious helps me a lot -- not the least in giving me a perspective about life that makes things bearable.

Well, hormones aren't very kind to us, so we can blame them for some of our erratic moods. Really truly. Some things people take for it--B vitamins, primrose oil, progesterone, wild yam, fish oil, magnesium, calcium, St. John's wort... (that's enough of a list)... you're not alone.

You might want to look at a med site for mood disorders, or look at the recovery forum here-- some things might sound familiar as you hear people talk about their days.

Gee, as for your friend--I'd say you are angry for a reason, and she has troubles for good reason! Even if you're not sure God is around and listens to you, pray for your friend's protection and peace of mind. We will too.

Yes, God helps us with many things. One thing I notice in myself, is an inner direction for my life, that gives me incentive to avoid things that set me back. I have hope that God wants good things for me, so I move in that direction. I do notice a bit of what you say-- a few friends have addictions I've been able to avoid, with physical signs of using for a long time...

And of course, He helps! Definitely.

=) Thanks.
My friend that I was talking about is actually at band camp right now. I'm surprised she has time to learn all her piano keys, practice her trombone, finish her homework and study. And STILL have time for all that stupid stuff >_>

Something I've noticed that takes up time, is people trying to figure out what they want, and then fighting to get it. Sometimes friends battle over the oddest things, and sometimes the results don't really matter...they just want to make sure someone respects their ideas.

I would guess that your friend grew up with a "just do it" mentality in her household, so she might not spend a lot of time deciding what to do next, what music to buy, how long she should stay mad at someone... she doesn't have time to say, "I don't know what I feel like doing."

If you had more freedoms, you will be strong in other areas... it's just different.
