The Democratic UndergroundI'd like to talk semantics and religion, do you know where I can do that.
Here in Christian Forums, it is against the rules to accuse someone of something. So, if someone calls you a troll, this is accusing, and against the rules, here. But the person may report however you might break rules of communication.I hope that is not the case where someone called you or others trolls. If they do you can report such posts.
It might not be a simple matter to figure out where to post each of your subjects. Your semantic subjects might not all belong in the same forum area; so you might ask someone where each one goes; and your religious subjects might belong in different forum areas. So, I would try to find out about where each of your interests may be discussed, on an individual basisI'd like to talk semantics and religion, do you know where I can do that.
Thanks for the input, I enjoyed that as much as you wrote it.Here in Christian Forums, it is against the rules to accuse someone of something. So, if someone calls you a troll, this is accusing, and against the rules, here. But the person may report however you might break rules of communication.
I am concerned how ones can treat trolls like they are beyond help and hope, and ones can just dump and avoid them. But Jesus wants us to be ready to share with and help anyone, with hope for any person, at all. No matter how impossible one seems, with God we can help anyone
My personal take about what a troll is, is he or she finds ways to keep rejecting and criticizing anything you say, and can very thoroughly misrepresent what you mean and then disagree with what you don't even mean. The person shows no reconsideration of what you offer, and won't actually communicate.
So . . . from my description here, you can see that I do not think you are a troll!
It seems like a number of people think each troll is on purpose only trying to disrupt a thread. But I think each troll is a unique person like each of us; and so he or she could have different reasons which he or she is consciously and strategically pursuing or is not aware of what he or she is doing.
One might be lonely and just wants interaction.
One might be testing if there are any really Christian people who are able to relate with the person.
A person might really feel he or she is right and is smart doing what he or she is doing. This would be true of someone who has established ideas but can not accept that anyone would question him or her.
One might want to play "word chess", and is trying to find someone who can give the person a challenging debate. May be he or she is hoping to get some things he or she can put in a school paper, for all I know
And one might try to see if and how he or she can play me around. For example, one who keeps saying I am wrong can make just irrelevant remarks but not actually answer to what I offer, including not giving any scripture for not agreeing with me. And this can be in order to keep me trying to get in the last word, so the person has succeeded in playing meThe person just does not respect me and does not value the authority of the Bible; so he or she disagrees without giving me anything to answer to. But this would be someone focusing on me, maybe.
Other unique persons might have other unique reasons for trolling

Is this a problem here on CF? Not from my observation.I am concerned how ones can treat trolls like they are beyond help and hope, and ones can just dump and avoid them
Hmm, I have had an extremely long religious background, and was a believer for half of my 40 years of life.

You are right; in these forums I have seen people make an exemplary effort to help ones who could be considered trolls. Is this a problem here on CF?
How does one train to become a Samaritan?Hello.....
Is there not a Samaritan type section on this forum where trained persons can communicate with possible suicides?
The very first rule is that 'advice is never given', or it was when I trained to become a Samaritan.
Trainees learn to ask questions, quite often very direct questions.... training courses lasted three months, I seem to remember. But I can tell you that Samaritans were not selected as a result of their religions or faiths.
There's only ONE FOUNDATION and regardless of the outward denominations name, if the members aren't standing firmly onWell, yeah.....
Here, in the 'Exploring Christianity' section, I reckon you could do that........
The thing is, there are over 3000 differing Churches, Creeds and Denominations of Christianity, each one believing that nearly all the others are wrong, and therfore (I'm guessing) that all the others are hell-bound, or whatever.
I even know Christians who insist that Jesus lead the Israelites out of Egypt..... we might get a reply to that here, even?
I just research the life and mission of thhis Galilean handworker who lived amongst the Genessaret boatmen.

I understand........ but I have never met any Christian who did not have faith that their Church, their denomination and their Creed was the right one. There's only ONE FOUNDATION and regardless of the outward denominations name, if the members aren't standing firmly on
that ONE FOUNDATION, then it isn't in THE BODY
Maybe the problem is belief. Why do we even need it?I understand........ but I have never met any Christian who did not have faith that their Church, their denomination and their Creed was the right one.
Where I live Christians murdered and burned each other for hundreds of years. I just try to understand how the faiths differ and give respect to the Christians of each.....
Thankyou for that. I needed to cut back to standard text so that my quote app would work. You would be surprised how many denominations/churches have more in common on core beliefs. Did a bit of research on this a few years ago. Most differences are due to "worship style" which some call Liturgy. LOL some have even done flow charts (mostly tongue in cheek).
However, the major "fault lines" usually revolve around the basic fundamentals of the Christian faith. For example, RA Torrey in his work "The Fundamentals" addressed the basic beliefs of Christianity from a Biblical and historic perspective. Summarized as follows:
Oh yes..... seriously!Did you mean this?
Maybe the problem is belief. Why do we even need it?
I don't have faith directed in and on my churchI understand........ but I have never met any Christian who did not have faith that their Church, their denomination and their Creed was the right one.

Oh the humanity. We might not need it, but we nearly all have beliefs.
On a forum where lots of atheists post I once ran a thread, asking about superstitions, ghosts, spirits etc etc...... So many atheists explained how they do have superstitions etc...... much to the horror of more extremist atheists! And when the extremists were questioned they were tripping over little beliefs themselves. It was amazing!
Honestly, it can be most instructive..... delving into atheists' deep convictions about such things.
I don't have faith directed in and on my church
...and that is not THE FOUNDATION
