  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I needed to take a transfer flight in Charlotte, NC, last week. In the public restroom, there was a waiter in uniform. He greeted people that walked in the restroom, and handed over paper tissues when they finished washing their hands, followed by saying "here you go, boss". Sometimes, when he saw something unusual, he would even say things like "Are you doing O.K., Sir?"

I felt very uncomfortable of being served while I pee. So, even if I wanted to use the restroom again, if I saw a waiter standing there (usually with a tip jar on the table beside him), I just turn around and walk out.

I've never seen this before. I think it is stupid for the airport to hire people doing this kind of job. :preach:

It's very common in bars. some actually try to put soap on your hands for you. It is so very awkward.

Obviously I don't go to bars very often. :)
I've been to so many airports, and it was the first time for me to see this.

Indeed, very awkward.
Don't they know most people don't like to be watched when they pee? :D

I saw it once in a movie. I mean I know people need jobs, but that's kind of ridiculous.

I mean why are maids frowned upon or anything to do with 'servants' but someone is hired to be a bathroom attendent?

If they were paid really, really well - and it was kind of a five star luxury thing, like polished wooden toilet seats and scented soap (and gold taps), sure.

It's like - service with a smile. But outside of that......

Yeah I think it's wrong. Too demeaning.

I mean if you paid someone to stand outside the bathrooms to guard them or something. Ok, boring, but it's a job. Then just check them periodically for tissue paper, soap etc. And be on call if an old man falls over or has a heart attack or something.
But to be in there...

ick.
