Know that when you are brokenhearted, no matter the reason, God is not far away.
When you're grieving over sins you've committed
Know that the Holy Spirit, God Himself, is the One who convinced you that you had sinned, and He is pointing to Jesus for you. He will cleanse you with His blood. Know that God instructs those whom He loves, and right now, you are being instructed.
When you've lost a loved one
Know that God knows exactly how you feel. Just think of all the people He loves who are lost in their sins. And remember that He is incredibly happy to have you. Just remember the party He threw in heaven when you decided to follow Jesus. Oh... right... you weren't there. But I'm sure He'll tell you when you get there... It was great!
When someone you love doesn't love you back
Just think of all the people God loves who doesn't love Him back. Think of all the people who God loves individually so much more than we are able to conceive in our little minds. God knows how you feel. He knows how it feels to be rejected by someone you love, when all you want is to give them all your love.
When all your friends have turned your back on you
Remember that all of Jesus' friends turned their back on Him when He was facing both the greatest heartbreak ever in history and execution. But also know that the Father was with Him all the way. "But I am not alone. The Father is with me."
And likewise, He is with us all the way, as long as we trust Him and His mercy.
"And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen." Matt 28:18-20
