White People Have Trouble Asking Forgiveness From a Black Jesus
9.16.02 by Michael David Perkins
Well, I thought it was dead but now I know
Seeds of hatred have to be sown
Even though things have changed I know
That white people cant ask a black Jesus for redemption
Well, we've moved on and the slaves set free
But I know you and you know me
We cant look at each other and not plainly see
That white people just cant say black Jesus I love you
So bow your heads and pray your prayers
Hes forgiven your sins now forgive them for theirs
Sometimes our words just fall down the stairs
And white people cant sing praises to a black Jesus
Some call it culture, some call it war
Others may say that weve opened the door
To say to our kids that heaven adores
For little white children to pray to Mr. Black Jesus
We say abandon the ghetto and leave the hood
My Jesus says we just have to be good
And you cant do that in your neighborhood
So shut your cursin mouth and love our white Jesus
Life is life and sin is sin
Accept the truth that all can come in
The gospels not about the color of skin
And once white people learn this, they can love a black Jesus
