  • Floyd was a criminal and a villain
  • The cop who killed him was just plain evil, but there was no evidence of racism, necessarily.
  • The people protesting fall into one of these categories:
    • Those hijacking the movement to insert leftist agenda.
    • People who use the cover of a protest to loot, kill and destroy.
    • People who just like to be part of a movement.
    • The self-righteous.
    • People who actually think that Floyd was killed because of racism and want to make it stop.
For a solution, they have:
  • Promoted broken families, perverse sexual behavior and the elimination of the police force.
  • Broken windows, burned stores and stolen stuff.
  • Protested in various cities, including some that have had no known problem of systemic racism.
  • Attempted to silence or shame anyone who criticizes them.
And this is what has become a sacred cow, untouchable.

You just don't get it, and that is the real problem. Maybe you just don't want to get it. This movement has been happening for a while. It is NOT just about George Floyd. Understand that please! George Floyd was the catalyst. Do you know what a catalyst is? Please read my post # 20.

I hear he's also behind COVID-19, every war in the Middle East, and Lady Gaga.

There are international charges levied against this man, and countries around the world that want him drug before a court in chains. For everything from election meddling to seditious conspiracy. He is the bankroll behind many regime changes, a genuinely dangerous man.

They lost me with the feet washing and announcing that they were starting an armed section like the panthers.

Yeah I believe BLM is inflating situation involving the tragedy that happened to brother Floyd and exploiting it to get support for their cause. I don’t see anything that supports racial discrimination in the case. The media is also playing a huge role in this deception. There’s a lot of important information they failed to mention to the public regarding the events that took place. Like that Floyd refused to enter the police vehicle saying he was claustrophobic and that he couldn’t couldn’t breathe while he was still standing before he dropped himself to the ground because he was refusing to get in the vehicle. After reading the statements in the charge against Chauvin it appears to be a situation of Floyd crying wolf saying he couldn’t breathe that resulted in his death. The coroner said he died of heart failure not asphyxia or strangulation. Everyone wants to believe that Chauvin strangled him to death so they can cause a huge outrage about it and BLM is just eating it up.

I'm right there with you. It has reached an untouchable status, like a sacred cow, where a person cannot safely criticize it. That, alone, is worth criticizing. All manner of evil can be masked by a "good" premise. Be careful.
The only sacred cow here is moi.

Every "activist" movement has an axe to grind. Movements like BLM, White Supremacy, Antifa, Occupy, etc. are labels for general ideas rather than highly organized efforts. There are many different folks that benefit from the chaos and disruption and conflict. I'm young enough to remember the 1968 election year. What's happening now pales in comparison as far as the violence. And the US will improve after the dust and tear gas settle.

So, BLM is a whipping boy for the Right. The Left has it's whipping boys as well.

LOL, Floyd should be ashamed for making that officer put his knee on his neck for nearly nine minutes. He should be charged with... oh, wait, he's dead. Can we charge a dead guy?

I think there's something very wrong going on when there are "white" people apologizing for being white,

You are a Christian so this should make very good sense. Here's how I think about it.

Think of systemic racism as a form of "original sin". Those of us who are white in the USA are born into a system that has long existed which benefits white people to the detriment of black people. We are all born and raised in a system that has existed long before we were around.

NOW: the value of "apologizing for being white" is NOT one of simple "mortification of our ego" but rather an acceptance that we have benefited from this system and it is our natural state to want to continue that system which benefits us...and that in order to make changes we must accept that we have thus benefited so that we might be able to give up some of those benefits so others may have them.

The first step toward salvation is accepting that we are all sinners.

Does that make sense? I'm not saying all of us white people are evil horrible lynch mobs...but we DO have advantages granted us solely due to our skin color. And even if we don't always appreciate those advantages we DO get them. Our goal then is to ensure that ALL people get those advantages.

We are "trying", obviously, but clearly not enough. Or we wouldn't be here now having this conversation.

police officers being targeted with awful slogans that say that they're ALL terrible people, and people are using the name of BLM to violently riot in the streets.

I agree that we shouldn't attack police character. But, again, my lived experience as a cis white male is very different from that of others.

But I think one of the things that unsettles me the most is the fact that just about every single company and celebrity, even overseas, have said that they are standing with BLM. Something about that tips me off as very blatant "virtue-signaling"

When corporations jump in it can definitely feel that way. But, by the same token, it is also an accession that their customer is more than just a white face. That they must reach out. NOW, whether they make it more than "slogan" or virtue signal is when the rubber meets the road.

Is it just me? Am I crazy in thinking that something might not be so right about the BLM movement?? Someone please let me know.

The BLM movement is just fine. It's an agreement we must make that black lives, indeed, matter just as much as white lives. And that's a noble goal for a country that has seen fit to treat black bodies as second class citizens for as long as the USA has.
