The past couple of months I have noticed several posts where some are questioning their faith in God, with some even questioning the mind of the Lord. It is written in Romans 11:34; For who hath known the mind of the Lord? or who hath been his counselor?
I would advise all those who question their faith in God, and even question Gods motives and actions to please read the Word of God in faith, and seek understanding from God alone with a repentant heart, and through fervent prayer.
Jesus spoke of those who would fall away from their faith in this parable in Mark 4:16-17;And these are they likewise which are sown on stony ground; who, when they have heard the word, immediately receive it with gladness; And have no root in themselves, and so endure but for a time: afterward, when affliction or persecution arises for the word's sake, immediately they are offended.
I believe many a misguided soul believes that God is here to serve their own personal needs and desires, and when some strange thing happens in their lives it causes their hearts and minds to question their faith, and even the Lord himself. Did the Lord ever say the Christian way of life in this present evil world is supposed to be all gumdrops and lollipops? I think not!
As a matter of fact the Word of God tells us in this world we shall suffer tribulation. Jesus said in John 16:33; These things I have spoken unto you, that in Me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation, but be of good cheer: I have overcome the world."
And so how do we also overcome the troubles of this present evil world?
1 John 5:4
For whosoever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that overcomes the world, even our faith.
So without faith in the very Word of God (which is the Me Jesus spoke of) we would not be able to overcome all the evils that would befall us in this present evil world. But is our faith based on what is happening on the outside, which is to say those things visible? Or is our faith based on those invisible things the Lord has promised to us through his Word if we overcome the trappings of this present world?
Hebrews 11:1
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
Jesus said in John 7:24; Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment."
Many do not understand that we are the Body of Christ, and we like Christ were meant to take up the cross and come into His sufferings. 1 Peter 2:21; For even unto this were ye called, because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow His steps,
1 Peter 4:1; For inasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind, for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin,
Many find it hard to believe that the Lord would allow such pain, affliction, and suffering to happen to his beloved. But what they find even harder to believe is that it pleased the Lord to do so.
Isaiah 53:10-11; Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise Him; He hath put Him to grief. When thou shalt make His soul an offering for sin, He shall see His seed, He shall prolong His days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in His hand. He shall see of the travail of His soul, and shall be satisfied. By His knowledge shall My righteous Servant justify many, for He shall bear their iniquities.
This does not mean that God takes pleasure in our pain, but it does show how the Lord our God does know our pain and affliction is necessary to lead us to the greater good.
Think about where we would be if Christ had not suffered, and been afflicted, and put to death for our sins? We would all still be dead toward God by our sins.
Luke 24:26; Ought not Christ to have suffered these things and to enter into His glory?"
Even as Christ has suffered and died for us, we also must put on the sufferings of Christ, that we also might be partakers in His glory when it shall be revealed in us in due time.
Always be mindful that it is not our will be done, but the Fathers.
And think it not strange when suffering and affliction arises in your life.
1 Peter 4:12; Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you;
