  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Here are some poems I have written. :sorry: I hope you like them.

Letting Go

So hard trying to let go,

She thought as she walked,

Down a certain path,

Never really looking back.

Feet barely leaving an imprint,

Her blue-green dress making the tinniest sound,

She walks through the woods,

Her thoughts everywhere but here,

Her arms carry a bouquet of flowers,

Flowers so full of memories,

Flowers of pain and sorrow,

Memories of happiness,

Memories of sadness.

She walks the path

With some certainness,

Some hesitant steps,

But she never looks back,

Knowing in her heart she has to let go,

Each step closer to the river,

Each step further from what she knows.

She comes upon the river and sits,

Her mind wrestling ideas;

She pulls a flower from the rest,

Takes a deep breath and sighs,

Flower twisting in her hands,

She lets it drop in.

It floats and is carried away,
The river so swift, so sure,
Carrying the memory away.

So Fragile
Losing hope so quickly,

Feeling so fragile, so lost,

Often thinking I am going to break;

In the midst of the storm

Twisting in the wind;

Million thoughts running through my head,

Bouncing from one to the next,

Wondering when the craziness will end.

So I learn to hang on a little tighter,

Learning to hang in there a little longer,

Unsure if my strength will last any longer.

Helping hands come to help,

Hearing my cries,

Hearing my pleas,

Willing and wanting me to trust

That everything will be okay

No matter what happens next.

Dreaming

So here he comes, the man of her dreams,

Ever so quietly he walks,

Wanting to know him,

To see his face,

To know his own heart,

To know his dreams,

His fears, his heart’s desire,

But she never really knows,

She never really sees

He skirts the corners of her mind,

Leaving her wondering,

Is he the next person she is running into?

So she looks for him,

Hoping and praying for him.

Hoping he’ll be around the corner,

Wanting for him to take her fragile heart

And treasure it; cherish it,

To make her heart his own.

Picture Imperfect

She gets up for the day,

Goes through her routine,

Doesn’t really make a scene

Though she feels like she

At times stands out from the crowd.

Her heart says one thing,

The world says another.

Fear makes her shy,

Makes her feel like she is so ordinary,

After she’s tried so hard to blend in.

She is so ready to fly,

So tired of feeling like she’s Plain Jane

Knows she made for something greater

Wondering if she will ever get there.

So take a picture and tell me what you see,

Do you see a beautiful creature?

With human flaws,

But still worth something?

Or do you even see her at all?

She is just waiting to be noticed,

Waiting to fly with her fragile wings,

Just wanting to sing her song

Instead of only fluttering along.

Masks that Fall

You try so hard to live

To someone else’s standards,

That pieces of you are lost,

Lost in the foreboding wind,

Lost in someone else’s plan,

So you are finding that

You now can’t stand,

And you surrender,

Surrender to the crashing waves,

And the cruel, unforgiving wind.

You cry out for help,

Wondering if anyone can hear,

If anyone can see your tears,

Trying so hard not to surrender,

To the pain, to the fear,

Doing everything you can,

Not to drown in them,

To lose pieces of you.

So here you go pretending again,

Pretending that everything is fine,

Though the inside says everything but;

No one can see the tears that fall,

Falling like a steady storm,

A heart breaking to pieces,

Oh why can’t anyone see?

Soon the storm rages,

It’s been brewing for sometime now,

It will break, not even you know when,

Oh how those walls will crumble,

Oh how they will tumble down;

Even though some may frown,

It will be about time that they come down.

Just remember to be who you are,

Don’t be afraid to fly,

To have hopes and dreams,

To reach beyond the sky;

Have some mischeivious schemes,

Laugh, even cry,

Don’t worry always about the why,

Sometimes you can’t even try.

All that can be done,

Is to take each day,

Whatever it brings,

Trying not to surrender,

To the fears that lurk in the wings.

Just Life

Dreaming for a better life,

Days without pain or strife,

Days with more ups than downs,

More smiles than frowns.

Wanting that storybook kind of life.

Though life is unpredictable,

And often far from simple,

I’ll keep my head up.

Though the tears will fall,

The pain often unbearable,

I’ll keep my head up.

When fears threaten to crash in,

Troubles come knocking on the door,

When sinking to the lowest point,

I’ll hope and pray for the day to get better.

Putting my faith that things will change.

Though it’s not exactly storybook,

And it’ll have its downs,

Hope will keep me alive,

For this interesting thing called life.

Hmmm...no response. :sigh:

My simple plea
My words will scatter me into the wind,

Bare my soul before the world and mortal men,

They are so few that would treasure it,

Keep it safe, not willing to break me,

Which leaves me afraid to be who I need to be.

So bear with me as I step tentively,

Out from the path I usually take so confidentally,

Into something I have never really done,

God please forgive me if I am wrong,

And do not let me come undone.

Untitled:
Just as there is good,
an evil so willing resides,

As it was from the beginning,

it will be until the end of time,

A never ending struggle,

though the final war has been won.

The battle of souls is constant,

There is no riding down the center,

It’s one side or the other,

So which side are you on?

A Prayer
So caught up in the whirlwind,

Of trying to be in so many places at once,

To be the perfect person,

The perfect friend, the perfect child,

That you begin to forget,

To lose who you are,

Who you might be,

That you are barely hanging on.

Being that person that everyone wants you to be,

Has left you breathless, where you can’t often see,

Trying to be grown-up, and not even knowing how,

Or getting lost inside of who you ought to be,

So uncertain of yourself, though outside says everything but,

You step out into the cruel, cold world.

Each step you take,

Further from who you are,

What you know,

It’s destroying a part of you,

Oh dear child, turn back,

Flee from the path you decided to take,

Flee to save yourself, for heaven’s sake,

Find not yourself in what others want,

What others want to see,

Don’t let them change who you ought to be,

Be who God wants you to be,
For that is my prayer, my plea.

Fly Away
Come away and fly with me,
Far away from the pain you've seen,
Away from the tears you've cried,
Away from the pain that's left you broken inside,
Away from the shattered dreams,
Do not worry, Do not fear,
For everyone will shed tears,
Every now and then,
There will be hope just as the sun will rise again.

Though the darkness of the world,
Will threaten to shatter you to pieces,
I will be there to lift you up,
Catch your tears, calm your fears,
If you will just lean on me.
Your trust, like that glass figurine,
Was dashed upon the rocks,
And there your hope seemed lost,
For things came to a sudden end.
But there is a hope,
For there is a light at that forever darkend tunnel,
And the pieces of you will be picked up,
Even the tiny jagged ones lifted up,
They will be put back together again.

So trust in one who loves you,
The one that can save you,
Heal your wounds, dry your tears,
Hold you close, calm your fears,
For He'll be there 'till the end of time.

So come away and fly with me,
Even though there's shattered dreams,
Things will get better each day,
Pieces of you will come back together again,
Even with the cliche that "All it takes is time",
I will be your friend, if you'll be mine,
And we'll help each other through this weighted sea of time,
So come away and fly with me.

Wow. That's nice. I write poems too let me tell you what I think:

Dreaming - I like it, just cause I'm kinda like that.. I relate to it, the poem realy apeals to me, the last line is very nice.

Picture Imperfect - Yes... that's it, thats the way it is... that's the way life is and feels, the poem just captures so well the way that real life can feel sometimes. I love that poem so much. "So tired of feeling like she’s Plain Jane" - brilliant line! "Fear makes her shy, makes her feel like she is so ordinary" - There's a song by a band called The Penny Sweets which says "do you love, do you love to show me that I'm ordinary? Well I wish I was magic, I wish I was magic for you." The song is called Lackluster I think. both talk about that sense of worth that other's try to crush.

Fly Away - Reminds me of a song by Martyn Joseph called Change Your World. Lovely, it just speeks hope and love for those will problems... what more can you say... that's wonderfull.

Never stop writing... its a gift to others ;)

Elf, You are off to a great start. It took courage to open your heart like to the world. Your thoughts are expressed in vivid language of delicate beauty. May I suggest a change or two reguarding form? If you work toward a more regular rhythm you will like the result. Try finding synonyms for those longer words that break the simple iambic pattern of the rest. Then it will be easier to arrange lines of the same length. Shaping good thoughts into a poem takes the same effort you would use in playing a game or solving a puzzle, but it is soooo satisfying! Keep at it. The world out here needs to hear your voice.

:D *grins even bigger to the response.* Thanks. :o I do try when I write. I mean I know being a christian is first and foremost, but I don't want to try to forget that I have human feelings...Like some rough times that have happened. Anyway, BenDare I am trying. I do appreciate your thoughts though. Sometimes rhyming is not incredibly easy..Soon your thoughts are starting to rhyme...unintentionally.

More poetry...:D

THE DANCE

For each day that comes my way,

I look for Mr. Right, wondering,

But finding that it’s not the time yet;

So I go on through out the day,

Looking for someone to love in that special way,

Looking for that life long dance.

My thoughts turn to You,

And to the dance we are dancing.

You quietly came to the door,

Knocking ever so softly,

Asking if You could come in.

You asked me to dance,

To a dance of a life time.

Oh how I was certain,

Oh how I was so sure,

To be dancing with You.

Getting ready for the part,

I knew I was ready to give You my heart,

So with each new day,

I learned a new step from You,

Satan began to notice,

He began to interrupt with things of the world,

The doubts crept in along with the fear,

I let him take me away for awhile,

And I saw your heart break,

When I fell into trouble,

When I fell into sin,

You came to the door of my heart,

Knocking and waiting patiently

That I would answer and let you in,

But so often I would turn away,

Making excuses why I couldn’t

Continue our dance.

Soon I began to miss You,

And I found out that I wasn’t near You,

My heart was empty and it began to hurt,

I could no longer pretend,

So I began to cry, hoping that You would hear.

You came to my side and picked me up,

You dried my tears and calmed my fears,

I asked You to forgive me,

You said not to worry about yesterday,

Because it was already gone and forgotten.

So You took me back to our dance,

Teaching me the steps I need to learn,

Helping me with the ones I have forgotten,

Picking me up when I fall,

Laughing with me when I forget,

Forgiving me when I step on your toes.

Even though this dance is going to take a while to learn,

Even though I may leave,

May I come running back to You,

Wanting to learn the new steps to this dance,

A dance of a life time.

Here is a Lord of the Rings poem:

Safe Haven

I hear the call, the longing,

Middle Earth is no longer my home,

“Fall into the West” I am singing,

My voice is soft as I roam,

The sun is setting,

As my feet are walking.

Through the woods I go, along with others,

We make a staggering line of fading glory,

Mothers, fathers, sisters, and brothers,

We are singing our lament, our story.

Do you hear the melodious singing of the elves?

The soft singing of the lament of leaving,

For the sun is setting on themselves,

And rising with the dawn of men dreaming.

They hear the calling, the mere longing,

For Middle Earth is no longer their home,

Into the West they are going,

Into the Grey Havens to no longer roam.

A glimpse you may catch as they are walking,

To the ship to carry them away,

Hear their longing as they are singing,

Their longing for the sea spray.
