Some people think that just because there is a new covenant everything from the old is done away with. This is not only false but it's also dangerous.

The commandments of God are eternal.

Psalm 111:7-8 "The works of His hands are verity and judgment; all His commandments are sure. They stand fast for ever and ever, and are done in truth and uprightness."

They are part of man's being and God's creation. The commandments on stone are a refection of what should be manifested in God's creation.

Many things that were once part of the old covenant are no longer needed, such as animal sacrifices, but some of the things in the old covenant have been transferred over to the new covenant because they are eternal and have to do with how God created us and have to do with our relationship with God and man.

Matthew 13:52 Then he added, "Those experts in Jewish law who are now my disciples have double treasures--from the Old Testament as well as from the New!''

The Ten Commandments are the authroity for why every sin and crime is wrong. It's these same basic eternal laws that God writes on our hearts through love.

Jeremiah 31:33 "But this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel: After those days, says the Lord, I will put My law in their minds, and write it on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people.

Hebrews 8:10 "For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel: After those days,'' says the Lord, "I will put My laws in their mind and write them on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people.

They are not the end all of what is right or wrong when it comes to personal relationships but many of the things that are right or wrong in the world today have their root in the Ten Commandments.

All throughout the New Testament we hear the Apostles referring, word for word, from the Ten Comamandments.

For example,

Ephesians 6:1-3 Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. "Honor your father and mother,'' which is the first commandment with promise: "that it may be well with you and you may live long on the earth.''

Exodus 20:12 "Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long upon the land which the Lord your God is giving you.

Even the Sabbath, which so many people have a problem with.

While Jesus was alive He was teaching New Covenant principles to the people. If He were to make any changes it would have had to be done while He was alive because once the tester is dead the will is sealed.

After Jesus' death His followers continued to obey the fourth commandment by resting on the Sabbath.

Luke 23:56 Then they returned and prepared spices and fragrant oils. And they rested on the Sabbath according to the commandment.

If Jesus did away with the Sabbath or made any changes to it it would have had to be done while He was alive. But we see from His followers that He made no changes to the fourth commandment. If He did change the Sabbath His followers would have completed the very important task of preparing Jesus' body for burial but instead of preparing the body of their Master they kept the Sabbath according to the commandment.

It's only the carnal mind that refuses the commandments of God.

Romans 8:7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be.

In the new covenant, God will take away your heart of stone and will write His law on your new heart of flesh and give you His Spirit to help you obey His law.

Ezekial 36:26-27 "I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. "I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will keep My judgments and do them.

Don't let anyone tell you the law of God is done away. They are eternal, good, right and holy. They are not sin, they point out sin so that those who are comming to God and those who love God can make the changes in their lives to be a godly people.

Now this does not mean you will live a perfect without breaking God's law.

1 John 2:1 My little children, these things I write to you, that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.

1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

But those who have been born again and have entered into the new covenant it will be hard for you not to obey the commamdments of God and they will be a blessing to you.

Psalms 119:165 Great peace have those who love Your law, And nothing causes them to stumble.

Psalms 119:98 You, through Your commandments, make me wiser than my enemies; For they are ever with me.

Psalms 119:113 I hate the double-minded, But I love Your law.

Psalms 119:163 I hate and abhor lying, But I love Your law.

Now I know the workers of lawlessness will attack this thread and accuse me of evil but don't let that discourage you just hold fast to the work that God is doing in your life through His Spirit.

Some people think that just because there is a new covenant everything from the old is done away with. This is not only false but it's also dangerous.
It is dangerous to ignore the testimony of the Biblical authors, who explain that neither Jew nor Gentile could be reconciled to God as long as the first covenant retained jurisdiction. The message of the Gospel attests to our deliverence from the condemnation of the law, which message it is that you consider dangerous.

The manner in which you write posts leads to long threads that eventually produce no fruit on your behalf, and it is because of the pattern that has been consistently followed by you, k4c.
  • You posit some premise, such as the law is eternal as you did in this post.
  • One of us will come back with the Biblical record telling us that there was a time the law began, ended, and even a limited jurisdiction during it tenure - demonstrating that the law wasn't eternal.
  • Then you will return, but not with any defense or comment on the passages that explain the point that one of us made. Instead, you introduce a red herring by appealing to unrelated passages (usually verses taken out of context) that don't address what was shown to you.
The result of this pattern is that each time you leave the premise you introduce without offering a defense for it, you concede that the premise you posited in the first place is false. Then, later on, you repeat the same point that you previously condeded to be false, such as this thread, which is here because you aren't willing to work through the issues that you contradicted Scripture on.

These are some of those issues that you have conceded in previous threads:
  • The "spirit of the law" is a concept foreign to Scripture.
  • The commandment to love God isn't present in the new covenant.
  • The first covenant is defined in the law to be the ten commandments, as well as the book of the law that you read those commandments from.
  • The first covenant was taken away by the Hand of God.
  • The Gospel message attesting the end of the temporal and periodic sabbath ordinance originates with God, and a message telling us that there is no more sabbath commandment isn't from satan. We already know that the RCC's claims of authority to change the sabbath to Sunday are faulty for the same reasons that Adventism's claims that the sabbath continues as binding. Something God called obsolete cannot be changed ex post facto.
  • God's "My law" that is written into our hearts and minds is qualified as not being according to the covenant made at Sinai, and the ten commandments are not written into anyone by God.
  • God does not promise anyone living in the flesh the ability to keep the former covenant (the ten commandments) when He concluded everyone to be disobedient to that covenant, and His solution to our condemnation was to deliver us from that law.
  • The law ordained at Sinai is indeed holy, just, and good, and completely lethal to those who are not.
These are just some of the points that I can remember discussing, and as you have wandered all over the theological landscape, I'm sure there are other points that don't come to my mind.

In every case listed above, you have conceded that your disagreement with these has been false. You have not defended your disagreements when you abandoned them. It does no good to repeat errors when you already made concession attesting to their error.

But that is the impetus for this thread, warning others about the Gospel you hope no one will discover in their own Bible.

There are a number of us who agree on the major points of the Gospel, and all of us would readily agree on the points I listed above. It isn't because we have formed some kind of alliance together to beat you into the dust, as that isn't my mission and I highly doubt that mission belongs to anyone else who answers your posts. Our mission is to learn from one another, with the goal in our minds to attain the unity of the faith that has been entrusted to us. Naturally, we're going to challenge deviation to that one Gospel, and you have stood out as the leading proponent of deviation.

BFA asked what you consider the purpose of this discussion forum to be. I am curious to see your response to his question. Please do not introduce another red herring, as I think there is growing consensus of recognition that following them is an act of futility.

I have stated my reason for participating on discussion forums to you before:

I came to discussion forums of this nature because I have found that it provides an accelerated learning curve that a university setting would be embarrassed by, as those who rely on Scripture press others for answers that we need to scramble for. Many times we discover in the process that beliefs we held dear to ourselves are foreign to what the Bible teaches.

That is a benefit a discussion forum offers to you. You have been pressed to find where answers are to be found in Scripture, and you leave when you can't - because the beliefs you continue to hold dear aren't Biblical, and those beliefs are more precious to you than the Gospel the Bible describes.

We're here to learn God's Gospel of redemption.
We would like to share that goal with you.
It's only the carnal mind that refuses the commandments of God.
If you have no interest in the commandments of God, you will not learn what they are. They are not to be found in the former covenant that you conceded is taken away.

David was reconciled to God, through the sure mercies that God promised.

The Lord declared to Moses that He, the Lord, would be merciful to whom He would be merciful.

30 fold mercy through Moses' ministration.

60 fold grace through the times of the Gentiles. Mercy and grace is multiplied.

100 fold when the kingdom is turned over to the Father, and God is all in all.
