  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Head cheese? BLEAH

Gizzards are about the only "guts" I'll eat.

And Joe, it depends on the TYPE of vegetarian you are. Some vegetarians eat fish. Some will not eat dairy products. Some eat only fruit and nuts (which is technically a "fruitarian"...they base the principle upon the fruit or nuts are part of the plant, you don't have to kill the whole plant to eat it, like you would, say, a carrot). Some will only eat RAW fruits and vegetables.

My daughter is a vegetarian, but she will eat fish. Her BF's family is vegetarian, but they do not eat fish.

Me, I'll eat pig, cow, chicken, turkey, but someone else will have to kill it for me.

Peace,
~VOW

Whoa... how would you do the "fruitarian" thing? How would you prepare a school lunch?!

How did your daughter decide to be a vegetarian? Is it difficult for her sometimes?

I couldn't live without meat, lol. Well, I could, but I don't want to. :D

I have NO idea how you'd give a kid the necessary nutrients with a fruitarian belief.

My daughter proclaimed vegetarianism a couple of years ago. Her BF and his family are vegetarian, and she decided to become one too. I don't have a problem with it, since she does include dairy products in her diet, and she will eat fish. Her Daddy is the world's foremost carnivore, and he razzed her at first, but he's better about it now. I try to prepare a vegetarian version of whatever I fix for mealtimes for her, and it hasn't been that difficult. I just read labels VERY carefully (you'd be surprised the meat sources for some foods!) and I do buy a lot of Morningstar Farms products for her. I also shop at the Seventh-Day Adventist market in a nearby town, where they carry a LOT of vegetarian foods and also have bulk TVP products. The market also carries an extensive line of different flours, so we've been enjoying a variety of breads since I've been shopping there.

I could probably be a vegetarian if I'd NEVER smell another pork roast again as long as I live. I'm a FOOL for roasted piggy!

Peace,

Cool...

Awww... you're the best mommy ever! lol :D

I guess I should cut down on meat a little. I really like oriental foods, like tofu sweet 'n' sour soup, egg drop soup, egg foo yung, rice, noodles, seafood/sushi, etc.

I love bread!

Mmmmm... smoked pork tenderloins... fried pork chops... shredded barbeque pork 'n' slaw sandwich... *drool* :p

ROFLOL!!! :D

I know some vegitarians who will eat fish. I think that they object to the treatment of livestock and the amount of food required to raise them. These don't apply to fish.
