Some Help Please.

Hey to all of you,
I am not bi-polar myself, but my mother is and quite severly so. Lately she has been changing her doses and as she is a nurse, she thinks that she knows what she is doing - but I have to disagree. THe problem is that I leave home next year - leaving my little brother at home with her which is kinda worring as she doesnt take her drugs often enough or alters the precribed dosage and my father does not live with us.
I was just wondering if any of you could give me some advice as to how I can help her or my little brother. I usually wouldnt worry or anything but as I am leaving I worry that she will take her outbursts out on my brother instead of me, and I fear that he cannot handle them - silly I am sure.
Sorry if I offended anyone or anything - It just seemed like the best place to ask for some help - my mother is not a Christian which also makes the matter complex but mainly I am trying to find ways to ease my brothers path next year and to help make my mums life easier and happier.

Oh gosh, I couldn't imagine what I would've done if I had a sibling in my situation. My mother is just like yours, bipolar, not christian, changing doses constantly, and very, very abusive (not to imply your mother is).

Is there any way you can take him with you, or is there a chance that he could live with his father? If not, I don't know what to tell you. He really is in an unsafe situation. Is there any way you could always check in? Either stop by and/or call your brother to make sure everything is okay? That would be your best option, unless she is abusive, then you'd need to get law enforcement involved, to keep your brother safe.

HI, If she is willing tell her to email me or post here at the forum. I will pm you with my email. I am a RN with bp 2. I do manage my own meds a great deal ,but always within what the pdoc allows. I am more than happy to visit and support her. Also your brother safety is always first. If you have to report something to CSD or remove him, never hesitate to do this. That is alot of responsibility to take on at your young age, but there is a system to help you. I also experience extreme rages with my mania, so I know first hand the damage my tongue alone can do. Please know we are here for you and your brother as well.

Same here but am learning to cope with the outbursts for the most part ! I very rarely lash out at the kids though I tend to take it out on myself and my husband !

Though getting better channeling it away from my husband into writting and also spend alot of time on the computer in forums such as this !

I wish I could be there to hug you and to help your mother ! I think emailing Alive again is a good idea !

Being a nurse and all she may be able to help you and your mother ! and even your brother deal with this.

I am willing to help out anyway I can as well ! You can pm me and I will get back too you ! Meanwhile the best thing I can do is pray for you and your brother and mom !

Dear Heavenly Father,

We come to you today on behalf of Kezith Lord asking for guideance and direction as he or she tries to figure out how to protect her brother from their mothers potential abuse (ect ) ! I pray for your miraculous healing touch on their mothers life that she may see Jesus in Kezith ! and come to know you as Lord and personal Saviour and stop running !

Lord I pray that you would break the pride of their mother that she would be willing to let the pdoc ! handle her medicine Lord ! Sounds like she is in no condition to handle this Lord.

I ask that you break the chains and bondage of her past as well Lord, help her to not use this illness as a crutch ...... Its easy to do Lord I have been there.

Help Kezith as he or she tries to keep their home somewhat together as best as he or she can ! give him / or her wisdom and strength and continued courage too face their mothers sickness head on !

I pray all these things in Jesus name

I know first-hand, as I'm sure a lot of other do, you cannot play with meds as a bipolar. It is a very serious matter. If possible, maybe you can try and stress that subject to your mum. Try to start by looking up all the information you can find and what the consequences are if she doesn't follow Dr.'s orders. You can also help you little brother by teaching him all you can and keep him safe by having someone check in on him and stay in contact when you go away. Something that helped me was talking to someone with my problem. If you like, have her contact me. I will gladly talk to her.

I feel for you as my own children had to ( has to feel my wrath ) but, I have a husband that really trys to understand, I'm afraid one day he won't take it anymore but, that's another thread.

Maybe your father can take him and that will make your mother understand how not understanding she is. Maybe she needs a push like that. I know that if I was gonna lose one of my kids that would staighten me right out.

I pray for my sister's mom...

my sister is so loaded with a heavy burden,, not one for herself,, but for her mom and lil brother.. it is not your intent for us to be so worried,, Lord,, as we pray,, and give this burden to you,, I pray you will help her to leave it at your feet, knowing you promised you will handle it so we don't have to,, instead of praying for the outward situation,, I pray for the inward situation,,

Make yourself so real to mom... Holy Spirit woo her and melt the heart to submit..
I pray for the son,,, encamp your angels about him.. be his sheild and buckler,, quench every fiery dart the enemy tries to shoot at him,,, bless him to love with your awesome love,, there is no age that cannot understand your mercy, grace and love.. be wonderfully glorified in this situation...
