Some help please.......

I dont know what is going on, but I figured I would post about it and see if anyone has any ideas or has gone thru a similar type experience.

For 3-4 weeks now, I have not slept more than 3-4 hours overnight. My eyes always have red rims, black rings, and burn. My temper is short with the children, and my fiancee. I dont know if there is something Im doing wrong, or if there is something major in store for me or what. Can anyone help me with this, maybe give it some direction somehow?

I have experienced this in my life as well - not only once but a few times. The only thing that really helped me was to go out of our bedroom (my wife did not notice it) and take the Bible and read through it.

Btw: you wrote "the children and my fiancee" - whose children are those? Are you a widower? Or is she? Do you live together with your fiancee? Or are you single and do you live on your own?

You might want to see a sleep specialist. From what I understand, the average doctor does not receive much traning about such issues.

What are you thinking about when you lie there in bed awake? Is God trying to tell you something maybe?

I know that God wakes me up at 2am when he has something important to say - maybe he's trying to say something to you and you're not hearing him?

Do not fret sister, it is not the Lord who is trying to speak to you when such things happen. In this day, God speaks to us through his Holy Word and no other. The Lord has not directly communicated with men since the close of the Apostolic Era, some 1900 years ago. The next time you wake up at 2 A.M., just roll over and go back to sleep.

I agree with this also, it's happened to me before; God could be trying to convey something to you, that maybe He can't do so easily in the daytime. Not to rule out the importance of getting the sleep you need.

Hi Jan!

When God wants to talk to us, he leads us to his word, as this is the only source of revelation we have been given. And he can instruct us just as well during the day as he can at night. God is omnipotent! He can lead us to read the Bible and tell us what he wants us to hear whenever he wants to!

I am not sure whether the answers given so far have been a great help to shadrach_ .... I've got the impression that he has to sort out his personal situation first

I fully agree with Jon_ that God is talking to us through His word, that's why it is always the best thing we can do to consult His word; but because He is also in charge even of the smallest things that happen I am convinced that He is the one who wakes up people in the middle of the night so that they might turn to His word....

because it is written:

Col 1,16 (AV) For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether [they be] thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:

Col 1,17 And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.

I do indeed have some personal things that must get sorted. I have 16 years of unbelief that left a lot of wrecked past that I must contend with on this path that I was drawn to. I very much pray that it is not that past keeping me up at night.
