Some of you already know, but this last Thursday I was appointed to be President of ALTS (American Lutheran Theological Seminary) of the AALC, as well as Assistant to the Presiding Pastor. It was a total surprise in late June when I was approached about considering the position. It is with great humility that I move in this new direction - and my wife and I are very excited.

We have to sell our house (bad timing, I know), and we will lose quite a bit on it. When it sells I can give my 2 week notice and then we move to Ft. Wayne.

We thank God for his faithfulness, his surprises, and his gifts and strength.

This also means that after my move I will have little time for message boards. I will occasionally check in and see what's happening, but no time for any kind of discussion. Not that I wouldn't like to be here, but time will be in short supply. I have enjoyed the time and especially getting to know many of you. So, Scott, looks like I will see you in the next few months after all. ;)

Wow---we're with a celebrity. CONGRATS! You have proved yourself a very worthy and Christian person in our forums and have given all of us much needed guidance and advice. Go with God.

Just curious----how does AALC and LCMS have an agreement? Is it a sharing of resources like Ft Wayne?

Two years ago, CTS at Ft Wayne invited our seminary to co-exist on its campus, and our students take the same basic classes as LCMS students.

This summer both church bodies approved altar and pulpit fellowship with each other.

And, no, there is no desire for merger. :)

Filo,

I look forward to it with great anticipation. I have enjoyed the time you have been here and the discussions we have had online have been great. I have learned a lot from you over the past 3 years. Maybe now we can go and have that beer sometime.

Congrats Brother. The ALTS has truly received the best man for the job.

Scott

I think you've been somewhat transparent in the last few months filo. I was wondering what was going on because you have been more active on the forum. I figured there was something going on.
Now I know why :)

I'm puzzled by your comment. Care to elaborate?

Filo, this is wonderful news and such a blessing for the seminary. You are always so gentle and uplifting in your addresses here, it's obvious why the tremendous gift of knowledge and dedication to ministry was bestowed upon you.

I am honored and humbled to have made your acquaintance here. You are truly a blessing.

Prayers for you and your family on this new chapter of your ministry. If there is anything I can do to assist you with the sale of your property, feel free to ask.

Transparent in that some of us have seen a difference in you and that something was happening. We just didn't know what. As I said you posted more and were more ebulient.

Again--it's been a privilege.
