We know we goofed when we interfered with primitive cultures by giving them medicine and vaccinations. Before well meaning missionaries arrived, natural selection kept a healthy balance between humanity and nature. After the residents were no longer dying of disease, they kept having large families they couldn't feed, and now we have huge welfare states in Asia. Africa, and South America.

Economic leaders have realized this mistake and have decided to restrict fuel and grain supplies to drive up prices and demand. This results in one person dying of starvation every 3.5 seconds. That's only 9M deaths a year in a world of almost 7B people. Obviously, people are not dying fast enough to undo the mistakes of the past.

You're probably asking yourself, "What can I do to help reduce the world population?" You probably know the 10:1 rule. For every 10 lbs. of grain an animal eats, we get 1 lb. of meat. Therefore, you should be buying as much meat as you possibly can to drive up the price of grain--buy a freezer if you have to.

The same goes for grain. Keep buying those 100 lb. bags of rice like Armageddon's coming. Just one of those bags could feed a village for a whole month. The more you buy, the higher the price will go, and the more third world people will starve.

Next, if your city or town is considering composting raw sewage, vote against it. Humus, the end product of composting is far superior to any of the petroleum or chemical based fertilizers and doesn't cause cancer by contaminating the crop or the groundwater below.

By all means, use a Brita filter for your own water and remove pesticides from vegetables by soaking them in a sink of cold water and a 1/4 cup of peroxide to leech out the toxins, but let the less health conscious absorb all the toxins in our environment to reduce the population.

And don't forget to use your vehicles as much as possible; especially those gas guzzling SUV's. If everyone does their part, we can solve this overpopulation problem we helped create and leave a less crowded world for our children and a better chance for the human race to survive.

Missionaries headed for China realized many of the villagers were starving, so they carried the Bible in one hand and rice in the other, sort to speak. This was a great disservice to the villagers, who associated worldly goods with Christianity.

Almost all of the relief organizations are Christian in origin. We were supposed to bring them the Gospel (good news) of Jesus Christ, the man that rose from the dead and promised a better life than the one in this dying world. Instead, we still have "Rice Christians" trapped in the "Matrix" of this dying world.

When Jesus sent out the 70 missionaries to preach the Gospel, he told them to travel light: no money, no napsack, no shoes. In the few missionary journeys I've been on, I've followed the same principle; don't feed the bears, don't feed the bums, and don't feed the natives. If you do, you'll have mooches following you for the rest of your life.

We cannot worship both God and money.

The problem wasn't that they brought both rice and bibles, but that they wouldn't give the rice to anyone who didn't sign up as a member of the church. That is not charity. That is bribery.

They should take both the rice and the bibles and give both to all who ask. And if someone only wants the rice, they shouldn't force them to take a bible.

Surely God does not will for people to be hungry. Still less does he wish us to use their hunger as a way to bribe them to follow Jesus.

God does will that we feed the hungry and we witness to God's love when we do.

You cannot be serious. These sound like the words of Hitler. You are talking about genocide.

EDIT: I believe this thread is sarcastic.

Natural selection ensures a balance between the earth and its inhabitants. We interfered with that balance by providing medicines, vaccines, and nutritional supplements. Families kept their practice of producing many offspring, which has produced overpopulation and a strain on the world's natural resources, which threatens us as a species.

The third world's maladaptive behavior of overpopulation must be stopped for the good of the species and the world. The process of natural selection must be restored in these parts of the world, and the only way to do that without mass genocide is to price grain and it's transportation beyond the reach of relief organizations. That way, the strongest will survive and we as a species will increase our chance for survival.

You can't be an evolutionist and reject the principles of natural selection and adaptation. Maladaptive behavior must be eliminated or we risk extinction like the dinosaurs.

Rubbish. You can't be a christian and think that care for the sick and the elderly is 'maladaptive behaviour. This satire isn't funny and has run it's course now so best leave it be.

Over the last 25 years, birth rates have fallen on all continents. Families have NOT kept their practice of producing many offspring. Current projections indicate world population is likely to peak at about 10 billion and then drop for a while until it stablizes.

The third world's maladaptive behavior of overpopulation must be stopped for the good of the species and the world.

It would do a lot more good for the planet to stop the overconsumption of resources by the 10% or so of the population that uses 80% of the planetary resources. Now, that is real maladaptive behaviour.

As Fijian said, "Rubbish". If you are seeking amusement, the game's not funny any more.

Who are you to tell evolutionists what to believe, when you yourself don't have the slightest understanding of evolution?
(1) Natural selection does not account only for selfish behaviour. Do some reading on the evolution of altruism. Dawkins' work is a good start.
(2) Evolution describes how things are; not how they should be.

I am aware of the concept of reciprocal altruism. It is a positive adaptation of the species. Selfless love is considered maladaptive behavior in the animal world. Birds that groom their fellow birds regardless of reciprocity are more vulnerable to pestilence and disease than the birds that practice reciprocity.

This is the reality of our situation.

This is what evolutionists are doing to address the situation. My OP may have seemed facetious, but the reality is that depopulation is very high on the agenda of world leaders and should be taken seriously. It is not me that needs to be educated about natural selection, it is your fellow evolutionists that need convincing. What Gospel can you as an evolutionist offer to these organizations that would sway them from averting what they believe to be a Malthusian catastrophe? I'm not here to mock you. I am asking for your help.

Nonsense. Natural selection will work in our world as a matter of course, without our help; when we overpopulate, people die from new diseases, starvation and the like.

As living beings, though, we do what we can to survive despite the odds nature packs against us. Thus, we invent medicines and technology to reduce our chances of death, we exhibit compassion in helping others, we sacrifice our own good for the good of our children.

Clearly you haven't read The Selfish Gene. :)
Apparently selfless love in the animal kingdom is rarely selfless. Game theory explains a lot of apparently selfless behaviour.

Ah. So you're a conspiracy theorist.

I'm not here to mock you. I am asking for your help.
You went about it the wrong way. If it's sympathy you're looking for, you don't go about getting it by mocking and misrepresenting those you seek it from.

I once read a science-fiction story, set out as a series of formal documents, in which an urban planning board receives a proposal that nuclear weapons might be a cost-effective means of destroying buildings when rezoning was needed. The board's chief concern was with the technical feasibility of the proposal, whereupon the proposer gave essentially a demonstration in tactical warheads.

The story was pretty funny to me mainly because of its counterfactuality: such ridiculously brazen utilitarianism didn't exist in the real world. Right?

Again, I ask you, what Gospel message (good news) do you have for the world at this time? People here say they're Christians, but I don't see it. All I see is a bunch of bitter Deists that have never experienced the loving presence of Jesus Christ nor have they been in the humbling presence of God the Father.

Most prominent evolutionists are attempting to deal with the radical changes in climate by employing drastic means of population control. Are you not aware that we are nearing the end of this geological journey? I suspect the answer is no; evolution science is forensic in nature and has no way of forecasting the following:

Half the North Pole has melted and natural disasters have exponentially increased in frequency and intensity around the world, but don't be alarmed. The climate change is just part of what can be expected at this time in history:

Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of birth pains.

Then you will be handed over to be persecuted and put to death, and you will be hated by all nations because of me. At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other, and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people.

Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, but (s)he who stands firm to the end will be saved. And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come. (Mathew 24:6-14)

I watched as he opened the sixth seal. There was a great earthquake. The sun turned black like sackcloth made of goat hair, the whole moon turned blood red, and the stars in the sky fell to earth, as late figs drop from a fig tree when shaken by a strong wind. The sky receded like a scroll, rolling up, and every mountain and island was removed from its place.

Then the kings of the earth, the princes, the generals, the rich, the mighty, and every slave and every free man hid in caves and among the rocks of the mountains. They called to the mountains and the rocks, "Fall on us and hide us from the face of him who sits on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb! For the great day of their wrath has come, and who can stand?"
(Revelation 6:12-17)

What's the good news?

.

The same Gospel message every other Christian professes.
You seem to think that evolutionary creationism is some other religion in and of itself. It's not.
Evolutionary creationism simply describes those Christians who accept evolutionary science. Other than Christ, that is all that binds us -- we agree that evolution is the best explanation for modern biodiversity. We are no more united on issues of Christian theology than those Christians who accept the science of gravity or germ theory or plate tectonics.

People here say they're Christians, but I don't see it. All I see is a bunch of bitter Deists that have never experienced the loving presence of Jesus Christ nor have they been in the humbling presence of God the Father.
What a very Christian thing to say. Careful you don't fall off your high horse, brother. It's a long way down.
While you're up there, though, you might try reading Matt 7:1-5.

Most prominent evolutionists are attempting to deal with the radical changes in climate by employing drastic means of population control.
That's just plain poppycock. You've said nothing so far in support of your assertion that there's a giant global conspiracy among evolutionists (of all people) to reduce global warming via genocide.

Why you think evolution should be capable of predicting climate change, I don't know. I expect you don't know much about evolution.
