I call that a major clue that the the two prevailing views were flawed. The Bible cannot be understood without the Holy Spirit illuminating one's view of what is written. Just look at all the thousands of 'man-made' denominations that contradict each other, borne out of each man's own interpretation, with little regard for seeking God's truth. :/
I figured that out in parochial grade school.Rather the rejection tends to be because each rejects accountability (and thus norming and any norm in such) in the sole, singular, exclusive, particular, unique case of self alone. From The Handbook of the Catholic Faith (page 151), "When the Catholic is asked for the substantiation for his belief, the correct answer is: From the teaching authority

The problem is that Protestants here believe that they do have the HS working with them - this means that each one of them, coming to their own truth believes its true based on them believing it is so
Two people can come up with two totally different interpretations (one often totally contradicting the other person's interpretation) of the same passage of Scripture and both will argue that the HS led them to this interpretation. How can this be if the HS leads us to all truth? Is the HS lying to one person?

Lutherans?
I did this some time ago about the Anglican church schisms over same-sex priests. You were there on that thread.
I also evidenced the Westboro Baptist Church that is divided from every other church.
That's divisions within a Protestant church, and without
If you want to go over what Luther said about Anabaptists, or what Calvin said about Luther, that's okay.
Lutherans?
The fact that Calvin split from Luther (or visa versa) is yet another case of something so obvious that they don't see it.
