What's up with this Sol Inviticus guy? Critics seem to think that Sol Inviticus is the earlier sun-god form of Jesus, on top of that, they also assert that the early Christians believed in a figurative Christ, not a human one.

So why is Sol Inviticus such a big deal?

Sol Invictus was apparently the deity who's birth was originally celebrated during our modern christmas holiday. Since scripture doesn't reveal the actual birth date of Christ, the early church adopted this particular season to celebrate it (a very clever move, I think). But most christians understand it's a chosen celebration date, and not the actually date. But in adopting this date they smothered the pagan holiday out of existence.

As to the charge that the early church held to a figurative Christ, nothing could be further from historical truth. We have an absolute plethora of early writings, starting with the N.T. itself.

1Cor. 15:11 Whether, then, it was I or they, this is what we preach, and this is what you believed. 12 But if it is preached that Christ has been raised from the dead, how can some of you say that there is no resurrection of the dead? 13 If there is no resurrection of the dead, then not even Christ has been raised. 14 And if Christ has not been raised, our preaching is useless and so is your faith.

You will run out of fingers and toes to count on the counterfeits to the truth of God soon enough. The devil is the prince of this world and stays busy copying and corrupting and truth He can into lies. He is alsoknown as the "father of lies". The Bible tells us that it is not flesh and blood that believers and followers of the truth battle, but principalites and mighty powers of darkness in the spiritual realm who are commanded by the fallen angel who was once known as lucifer.

Eph 6:12 For we are not fighting against flesh–and–blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.

Isa 14:12 “How you are fallen from heaven,
O shining star, son of the morning!
You have been thrown down to the earth,
you who destroyed the nations of the world.

I don't recall Sol Inviticus. This person or false god doesn't sound worth studying much either to me (that's just me)

the early christian history studies I have seen do not assert the early christians believed in a figurative Christ, but in an actual person. So I haven't seen Sol Inviticus as a big deal. I do know in bible studying that often many false ideas and false gods are mentioned maybe in tidbit just to give background information, but that doesn't mean it is so important (in my thinking). God bless
