CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
Sodom & Gomorrah

Weren't the angels pretty ticked off... since they were the ones who destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah, because they were supposedly sent by God to destroy the cities because of an outcry to God against it's people, and were the two men that the sodomites were attempting to have sex with?

God saw it fit to cleanse the world of Sodom and Gommorah, I think it had to do with more than raping angels, but thats jut my opinion and there is no point in posting opinions.
Why is America becoming Sodom and Gommorah....I didnt know that it was.
America will fall, it happens to all great nations. Yet I also believe that they have the capability to rise again if they do.

On the other note, Sodom and Gommorah were destroyed for their selfishnes and unwillingness to serve God. No, it wasn't just about homosexuality. It was about more than that. Sodom and Gommorah are a reminder to what can happen to places that do not look after their fellow man.

"Behold, this was the guilt of your sister Sodom: she and her daughters had pride, excess of food, and prosperous ease, but did not aid the poor and needy."
According to the actual reasons listed in the Bible for its destruction, yes, I'd say the United States is becoming exactly like Sodom. But somehow I don't think that's what the OP had in mind.

Its easier to argue talking points than to actually read it. The problem is that the translations themselves are inaccurate in some cases and unfairly were interpreted to stand as condemnation of Homosexuals which is not accurate (a lie in Jesus's face).

God had in mind the destruction of Sodom in advance of the men there being intent on raping angels (not that they knew who they were).
Ameria had become Sodom long ago. Sodom and Babylon. Thankfully, the present is the time of grace. Like Nineveh, God is not willing that America should perish. If America will abandon it's legalism and return to God, he is faithful and will turn aside his righteous wrath.

I assume by "legalism" you mean law? If so, wouldn't returning to God involve legalism as well?

Well, if you read the whole story you will see that when the men came and wanted to "know" the two men in that house you will see that Lot wanted to send out his two daughters instead so the men could "know" them.

That's an interesting twist to that story, isn't it? I mean, according to those who like to use that story to bash gays, the whole freakin' town was gay!!!! but Lot, who lives there, knows about all "teh gays" offers his daughters to these men. does that make any sense? Wouldn't Lot have known that these men wouldn't be interested in them?
Another question that looms is "at what point did all the men turn gay?" is this a phenomenon that we can witness today? even if you accept the most conservative estimates of the gay population today, at 1-3%, is it possible that all of Sodom and Gomorrah were gay?
nope, It must've been something other than homosexuals that brought about the destruction of that place!

It says here that Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed by two men (also called angels), because people were complaining about the sins of it's people...
My guess is that Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed, by their enemies, at the end of a war with each other...
Their enemies had to get Lot out of there before they could destroy the cities.

I think that the destruction was because of inhospitality and attempted rape- "knowing" the strangers seems to have been about power, control, and cruelty more than sexual attraction.
