  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I think that the biggest reason that younger kids and infants aren't getting Covid-19 as much is because unlike adults,.. they don't go out and party and hangout at the bars. Plus, if their parents tell them stuff for their own good to prevent them from getting sick,.. most likely they listen since they don't want to get sick in the first place. Seems like we can learn an awful lot from the children. So please remember to stay home and social distance and wear a mask when appropriate. :)

I don't think that's the reason.

https://nypost.com/2020/06/27/almost-half-of-us-covid-19-deaths-are-linked-to-nursing-homes/

There was a quandary in New York not long ago about why so many of the people getting sick were wearing masks and staying very much at home. The reason was simply that Old people are more likely to stay at home (shut-ins), not socialize, and Old people were more likely to get sick and die from it, because they're Old.

Well, I forgot to mention that there's other reasons other than the one I mentioned but I believe that the OP was a really big reason. However, I agree with you as well.

Did you read your article?

I think you'll find that the problem is mainly connected with Aged Care facilities where there's a concentration of susceptible older people and a stream of contacts with the outside world through staff and visitors.

The key being that they are susceptible and old, as you say. Even in your own rebuttal you admit my point, that they are getting sick and dying because they're old.

I agree they are obviously more susceptible because they are older but you also said (see quote from your post below):

The reason was simply that Old people are more likely to stay at home (shut-ins), not socialize,

Non-socialising 'shut ins' are actually less likely to catch the virus.
