Your information is now old. I am the father of a teen. And, I don't suppose I have much to worry about right now. My daughter sends all the boys to me to get permission for every date.rnmomof7 said:As you are now the father of a pre teen daughter, how do you feel aboutt "courting " as opposed to "dating" (Do you know the "movement I am talking about? )
As far as courting, I suppose that what I did was more courting than dating. I spent a great deal of time around my future in-laws and they knew quite a bit about me before it became official. Though I can't say for certain, I do believe that I would have been up the creek if I had not received permission from my fil to marry.
A am aware of this push for courting and, though I don't know what these "rules" are suppose to be, I have given my daughter a few gifts along the way to help her out and that is all that really matters. Somehow I don't think she will try to hide her dates unless she falls into some wild insane period like some teens.
Given that it is expected that any malignant growth my daughter will choose to call "boyfriend" will have to hang around with me, I can make certain that I give a healthy dose of good Protestant theology, including the expectation to visit and participate in my church on occation. I think we can sniff out any doctrinal incompatibility early.
