So, I learned that this girl I went to high school with had three abortions within two months, and the last one screwed her up really bad. She has an infection (in addition to Gonorrhea and herpes) and now cannot bear children.

When praying for unborn children you can simply say "I pray for the children of Shannon who have died"--and expound on that as you like. Though I will beg you also to include praying for this young woman's healing, too.

I refer to the babies as unborn babies. Some also refer to them as unborn children. Praying for your friend. May our Lord help her find some comfort and peace as she figures things out.

I, too, nearly wrote a post pointing out the impossibility - my guess was that she had had two botched (unsuccessful) abortions. But both Shannon's guess and Bafriend's (years instead of months) are more likely.

Whatever. It's a sad story. Prayers going up.

Poor girl.

Unlike her babies....she has a lifetime of living to do and when it hits her (and hopefully it will, because the alternative doesn't bear thinking about)...the gravity of what she has done/is doing, it is going to hit her like a tonne of bricks.

Her baby(s) are at peace now with God. Something we know is possible for her too, if she seeks God's mercy.

I pray that she may one day be able to embrace the baby(s) whose life/lives she bought to so early an end, in this life.

Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayers.

Oh for the love of all- do you people just not know screwed up young women? Seriously--young women do indeed, make up degrading, shock-value lies---it's done so as to sort of reinforce neagative self-image and decimated self-worth. It's an indicator that there is lots and lots of pain there. It very common among young people who have suffered abuse of some sort. It wasn't meant as anything even remotely approaching a disparaging thought or remark.

Anyone--anyone who knows me at all on this board would know that a broken, wounded young girl is going to get deep sympathy for me. It just happens that's there's lots of ways which brokeness manifests itself.

It is also something good to recognise if you are becoming involved as any sort of saviour-figure to a messed up girl--because there is a powerful allure, particularly to a virtuous young man...but it is vital to recognise the patterns, so that one can offer help and not just become an enabler.

My gosh- it's like people on here go out of their way to intentionally misunderstand sometimes.
