I am new on this anabaptist forum and am just feeling things out. Whos who in the pew?

I have never been connected with any anabaptist denomination but those of us who were part of the Jesus People movement in California in the late 60s and early 70s were motivated by the primitive Christians in the Book of Acts.

The anabaptist denomination I can identify with the most is the Hutterites. Thay are the closest to what I am acustomed to.

I have fellowshiped with modern Mennonits in Virginia and found them to be very nice people but lacking the spirit of their forbearers. Most seem to be well educated humanists without a zeal for living the gospel.

It seems they are having a hard time finding pastors. That surprised me.

At the Mennonite church I attended in Richmond they had hired an outside pastor who was introducing Roman Catholic litergy. The litergy is no substatute for scripture. We continued on our way.

I find that my hunger for Gods Word grows daily.

I am the father of 5 sons and 3 daughters all over 21.

One of my sons was killed two years ago with a 38 bulllet through his heart. As he died in his brothers arms his last words were,"Thank you Jesus". The killer who is now in prison heard those words and has come to repentance.

In the last few days we have been getting reports that some of the young friends my children grew up with, are accepting the Lord.

I am convinced, that we are in the prophetic LAST DAYS with many differances from earlier periods.

So now you know what I like for dinner, more Jesus.

Whole bluefish drizzled with with butter, lemon, white wine, green onions, and seasoned salt, wrapped tight in foil and baked; served with white rice, soy sauce, my habanero citrus sauce, and a can of carrots.

I'd like to catch a bluefish this big.

That is a big one!

I'm eatin' raisin bran tonite--14.5 hours working and don't feel much like anything:sleep:

Fried bluefish with bluefish chowder made New England style.

Bluefish, bluefish, bluefish, bluefish! We have no more bluefish now and I cannot say I am uh, blue about it, though perhaps a tad green. These things were getting to be like the umpteenth meal of leftover Christmas turkey. :o Too bad bluefish does not freeze well.

Bro. Daniel, I am pleased to make your aquaintence.

I have some biographical info at my Wikipedia userpage.

My morning started off with coffee and Roll with egg, cheese and bacon accompanied by a scan of the New York times.

Now I feed on the Words of Jesus

Mat 6:25 Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?

Mat 6:31 Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?

Mat 6:34 Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day [is] the evil thereof.

Luk 12:22 And he said unto his disciples, Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat; neither for the body, what ye shall put on.

It appears Jesus lived what he preached and his first disciples did the same.

I have many choices as to what I should do today, but the first choice is to prefer the brethren.

this online fellowship is for me a rewarding test.
I am glad to meet brethren here in a depth that is not possable in a fleeting traditional church meeting.

I pray the Holy Ghost will lead your day.

With love in Christ

Just had to say "hey" to another Pentecostal in the Anabaptist forum! Isn't it funny how God breaks down those walls? Have you ever heard Bro Denny of www.charityministries.org ? That man is on fire! They have free downloads or will send tapes just for asking.

We had the teriyaki chicken that I put in the freezer last week, with brown rice and carrot sticks (and a weight watchers dessert).

I'd rather read scripture than eat too, Brother Daniel - but I think my family would rise up & protest. They seem to think actual food is important. Casserole tonight but at least that cooks itself!

McDonalds. Me and the boys went there before going to a nearby church's "Fall Festival", Halloween alternative.

I went to CITGO for a sandwich but simply got a cup of tea and returned to computer.

I dont feel very neoplatonic as my mysticism is focused on walking behind Jesus. I am reminded that we are in this world but not of it

1Jo 2:16 For all that [is] in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.

1Jo 4:5 They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them.

Of course. Most of us feel we are right.

Pro 21:2 Every man's way is right in his own eyes, But the LORD weighs the hearts.

Catholics, Baptists, Amish, Calvinists, Arminians, Pentecostals, etc., all feel they are right.

But what explains the differences?

Are they all right? Are they all right? That is impossible or they would not be distinct groups.

For those truly in Christ, our best hope is that our Chief Shepherd will make sure we are are "right" enough to be able to do His will.

A problem that often subverts that proccess is when we become insular within our own Christian "in-group" and dis-value or avoid the perspectives of those in Christ not part of our in-group.

Cross-denominational and cross-movement interaction is therefore crucialy important.

Because none of us have everything right, all of us included [ACADEMIC raises his hand to make it clear he is included].

Usually, alternate perspectives are best found among those with...with alternate persepctives.

And we usually need many alternate persepectives to become everything Christ intends for us to be. They are one of His tools, don't you think?

Don't change at the hand of any man. Change only if God is making alive to you something that is coming through man. In that case, He may be weighing your heart, preparing you to see something in yourself that is NOT right and which will become not right in your own eyes; this so He can bring change in you, make you more like Him, that you may be better equipped to do His will for you.

Is that happening here, both now and at other times?

Maybe, maybe not, and yes and no. Meanwhile, I am hearing other perspectives while giving my own.

Toasted cheese sandwiches. After going to my parent's church's Fall Festival with the kids. It was nice to go, talked to my old youth pastor too.

Eating as fellowship, eating as communion. One of Jesus's distinctive practices was the meals he ate with his followers.

Luke 7 said:
33For John the Baptist came neither eating bread nor drinking wine; and ye say, He hath a devil.

34The Son of man is come eating and drinking; and ye say, Behold a gluttonous man, and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners! 35But wisdom is justified of all her children.

Carnaliity or flesh makes the differance and pastors who cater to it.

No matter how much I feel I am right, when my feelings dont match the word of God, I yeald to the words of Jesus.

Rom 3:4 God forbid: yea, let God be true, but every man a liar; as it is written, That thou mightest be
justified in thy sayings, and mightest overcome when thou art judged.

Are they all right? Are they all right? That is impossible or they would not be distinct groups.

Its not about judging groups. For me its about living and sharing as Jesus has instructed.

That is why I am on this forum.
I am well aware of our differant perspetives and daily test mine against others even within my own family.

Every day I find the path of Jesus more extreme and I would not dare to walk it without trusting him.

He is changing me even as we exchange messages.

Maybe, maybe not, and yes and no. Meanwhile, I am hearing other perspectives while giving my own.

I feed on the words of Jesus daily for his saving perspective.

I read a lot, but as time moves on its more bible.

As a California artist I am soaked in Jesuit humanism as taught through a progressive Prussian pedagogy.

Its taken a great effort to forsake the perks of the scientific elite and get back to the basics with Jesus.

A thirty year study of prophecy and history has convinced me that we are near the end of the biblical "Last days".

Those of us who call ourselves Christians are callled to exhort one another concerning the way of Christ.

Rev 2:5Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent.

When I read these words of Jesus and see how far I have fallen, I am eager to do those "first works"

Oh, that is so true.

God appointed one fast day in Israel and eighty feast days. Biblical worship was festive, and centered on lots of food. The Pharisees distorted this such that when Jesus partied, he had to have been sinning, right? No!

In the New Testament, the Lord's Supper was often served in connection with a Love Feast.

I just love to throw parties because they show a part of Jesus some fail to associate with Him. It is a great context in which to speak with others of Him.
