So... should we play video games? (mutiple point topic)

As a nerd I play games. From peaceful games like Peggle, to games like Doom 3 and Halo Reach.

But should we really play games? For starters if you game then most likely you to some degree obsess about them which makes you turn your game into a idol.

Next what about the content? I'd think even the "friendliest" game is against god in terms of what we should be doing.

With all this it seems we still play games anyways. I don't use the excuse "Its just pixels!". But I do believe some games are art, others are like stories to pull you away from reality. And in the end I know playing games is probably not what god wanted.

Which also brings up the question....will we have video games in Heaven? Cause I really want to play them!

I have been a gamer for 26 years of my life and and if you want to live by the word of God than you wouldn't be driving a car you would even be playing Halo for that matter! Christian have this idea that being a Christian means I cant do anything! I can play God of War and and have fun. And turn it off and pray to God and talk to him. Plus there is no law in the bible that says playing videogames are forbidden!

As far as games in heaven, probably no. But you also have to consider that heaven is.....well heaven. It'll be better than what we have now, so i wouldn't worry too much ;)

As far as video game stories go, Silent Hill 2 is one of my all time favorites. It's a psychological horror game, but it has one of the most profound stories you will see in any medium of story telling. Definitely check it out :D

I enjoy playing computer games. It helps me escape and focus on tasks, sharpens my mind, and helps me prepare for work and I'm 50. Plus it's just plain fun. World of Warcraft is not that much different than chess- you try to conquer opponents. It's not all that graphic either- but flying on gryphons and dragons is very fun. I think as long as you don't let it take over your life, like any game and you serve the Lord, read the Bible, pray, it can actually be beneficial.
